- The newly-generated cards will be to the left of the copied cards.
Strategy[edit | edit source]
In the right circumstances, Zai is an incredible value play. Card positioning in your hand is key when you want to double down on certain key cards (Blade Dance, Aldrachi Warblades & Soulciologist Malicia, to name a few), or to utilise more Outcast cards like Consume Magic, Eye Beam, and Skull of Gul'dan. You can also use discount cards, such as Skull of Gul'dan, to duplicate mana cost reductions.
Always keep an eye on the left- and right-most cards in your hand before proceeding. In dire situations, those extra copies might save you. It's also a notable enabler to Altruis the Outcast, which relies on the left- and right-most cards in the hand to deal damage.
In Highlander builds, Zai is amazing at generating many more resources for you to work with, as well as being able to hit Reno Jackson, Zephrys the Great and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, gaining a huge advantage over your opponent. In fact, Control Demon Hunter uses Zai to an incredible degree, allowing them to adapt and copy many key finishers, Legendries, or just more clears.

Lore[edit | edit source]
Zai, the Incredible could be based on Zai the Outcast, a rare jinyu found east of Inkgill Mere in the Kun-Lai Summit. A notable drop is the Farwater Conch, an item that allows the user to see far into the distance and grants the ability to create water droplets.
