Discover tagging[]

In answer to your question a few days ago about how to tag Discover cards ( https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Choose_Your_Path&oldid=286859 ), out of the pre-existing Discover cards (before Un'Goro) I could only find 2 such cards with "Random" and 1 with "Generate". I would say both tags are implicit in the Discover tag and we shouldn't add more - it would be redundant. However, if a Discover generates a specific KIND of card, we can tag that with Spell-generating, Beast-generating, etc. Or...Deathrattle-related? Yeah, not very consistent... But at least the Random/Generate question is pretty clear. - jerodast (talk) 09:40, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Ok, thanks, that helps a lot! Aegonostic (talk) 11:07, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Hall of Fame out-of-date tags[]

All the HoF cards got new watermarks, if you're still wondering about why their images were being updated :) - jerodast (talk) 18:11, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Aha, that explains the tags, thanks! Aegonostic (talk) 18:40, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Updating card images[]

Hey, thanks for updating the image for Angry Chicken. Do you think you could also update Spiteful Smith, Grommash Hellscream and Tauren Warrior? Hikarigami (talk) 21:07, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

Admin offer[]

Since I haven't yet received any feedback on promoting some active editors to admin, I figure it's time to kick the ball down the road by making someone an offer. You're certainly a dedicated editor and the most likely to make me aware of issues that need attention, so you're a natural choice from my perspective, and I'd like to offer you promotion if you're interested. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SBEyes (talkcontribs) 07:54, 23 August 2020‎

Well, I certainly like to talk about the issues that arise in this wiki and post them on the admin noticeboard. I do enjoy editing this wiki with everyone, and I have been editing for a long time, but about becoming an admin, I also feel like being an admin is a very special role privileged for providing direction and insight for future and existing content on the wiki, and I'm not sure I'm fully capable of this. I don't have a background in WoW lore, and also I might not be planning on being active all the time in the coming future, though I do say I really like the edits that I make on this wiki and I can provide some direction for future content. I could take on the role of a semi-admin, if that's a thing that can be done, I'd really like my editing to still remain somewhat neutral though, and being an admin in community discussions seems like a lot of power. That, I think, in wiki terms, is more the role of a bureaucrat, who can also promote others. And neither bureaucrats or administrators actually have special status in content disputes; the guideline for wiki admins is to administrate users, not content. It's true that this doesn't always happen in practice, and other editors may and often still perceive some special status to admin edits, but in my opinion, a good admin doesn't take advantage of that.
And on wikis where there isn't much conflict, the role of admin tends to come down to more practical matters: you'd have the rights to delete pages, edit protected pages, block vandals (though please not indefinitely), among other things. It's nice to have an active, trusted member of the community with the ability to take care of those things, because I'm usually setting up one new wiki, and sometimes two, most weeks and have around 250 wikis to manage. I just can't be nearly as tuned in as an active editor who can be trusted with a few more privileges. SBEyes User-OOeyes-Sig.png 12:27, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
I don't really see the benefit of being an admin right now, but if you really need an admin to help facilitate a few more things like administrating users, I guess you can count on me, but I have to say there's not much administrating that needs to be done.
