Actor photographs

What's the general approach for posting photos of the voice actors? I grabbed Laura Bailey's off of her official website, taking it to be an official publicity shot meant for exactly this sort of use. Not everybody has publicity photos available online, though. Is it safe to assume that a photo on Wikipedia is fair use for this wiki? How about imdb? Ambignostic (talk) 20:18, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

I don't know the technicalities re: fair use. The basic idea seems to fit reasonably well, in that it's non-commercial use, and our purpose seems to fit roughly into the "commenting upon" category.
My general approach is that the artist/voice actor pages are basically fan-pages, giving the actor credit, leading traffic to their own site/s, and generally praising them. So hopefully the actor in question wouldn't mind us using a publicly available image to promote them, and help their fans to know who to direct their appreciation at (especially considering how under-credited they seem to be). I suspect the will of the person in the photograph is an important factor.
As far as other resources go, it's probably a safe bet that if it's OK for Wikipedia, it's OK here, but again I don't know the technicalities. Another angle is that if the actor hasn't sued IMDB for using the picture, they're unlikely to do so to a small video game wiki ;) But as I say, the whole intent is positive and credit-giving, so hopefully the actor should have no problems with it. -- Taohinton (talk) 00:01, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
