'references' v. 'reflist'[]

Is there any difference / preference between <references/> tag and {{reflist}} template? Is [1] correct? -- Karol007 (talk) 23:23, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Honestly I'm not sure if and when we'll need to use {{Reflist}} as anything other than a way to directly call <references/>. In my mind it's preferred, if only because it's easier to type ;) A bot can always correct any undesired uses should it ever come to matter. -- Taohinton (talk) 11:45, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Argh, I'm not sure which one you mean by it's preferred, sorry. I think you mean 'reflist'. Thank you for the explanation, but can you please post 'use foo', so we're on the same page?
I've noticed the preview tab of the wiki editor (sorry, don't know what's the proper name) prints
Cite error: <ref> tags exist, but no <references/> tag was found
but keeps quiet even if I use 'reflist'.
I'm using vim for typing, and I can even post e.g.
==References==
{{reflist}}
with just a few keystrokes, if needed. -- Karol007 (talk) 15:31, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
I was referring to/preferring {{reflist}}, but as I say either is fine. If you look at the template, you'll see all it does is call <references/>, hence the behaviour. -- Taohinton (talk) 02:30, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
