- Summoning Portal's ongoing effect is applied before any other cost-modification effect, regardless of order of play.
- Example:
Emperor Thaurissan's effect has triggered while holding a 3-Cost minion. Summoning Portal reduces the minion to 1 Mana and Thaurissan's enchantment is applied afterwards, making it cost 0 Mana.[1][2] - Example: If a minion card with a base mana cost of 1 has its cost increased by some effect, playing a Summoning Portal will not reduce the final mana cost of the minion: since Summoning Portal's effect is applied first, it cannot decrease the mana cost of the 1-Cost minion below 1 and has no effect; only then is the cost-increasing effect applied.[3][4]
- Summoning Portal does not increase the mana cost of a 0-Cost minion to 1.[5]
