Revision as of 01:41, 26 July 2017
Warning: there is more than one data page for cards with this name.
Please identify which of these data pages are for the card this page is supposed to cover.
Data:Cards/Skycap'n Kragg(22260), Data:Cards/Skycap'n Kragg(62268)
Once it is identified, please edit this page and use the |datapage
parameter on {{Card infobox}} to ensure data is pulled from the correct page.
As an example, if the correct data page is Data:Cards/Barrel(376)
, then this page would need {{Card infobox|datapage=Barrel(376)}}
to ensure it finds the correct page.

Costs (1) less for each friendly Pirate.
What's more boss than riding a parrot with a jawbone for a shoulderpad while wielding a giant hook-lance-thing and wearing a pirate hat? NOTHING.
Skycap'n Kragg is a legendary neutral minion card, from the Grand Tournament set.
How to get
Skycap'n Kragg can be obtained through The Grand Tournament card packs, or through crafting.
Card | Crafting cost | Disenchanting |
---|---|---|
Skycap'n Kragg | 1600 | 400 |
Golden Skycap'n Kragg | 3200 | 1600 |
Notes
- The mana cost of this card is reduced by 1 for each friendly Pirate currently on the battlefield. Pirate cards in the player's hand will not reduce its cost.[1]
- The mana cost of this card cannot be reduced below 0. However, further cost-reductions can help in countering cost-increasing effects like Freezing Trap.
- This card has an in-hand effect: it modifies its own mana cost only while in the player's hand, and not while the card is anywhere else.
- Skycap'n's Charrrrrge ability is no different from regular Charge.[2]
Strategy
This card can serve as a finisher in a Pirate deck (similar to how Doomguard was a finisher for zoo decks). Best used when you have at least 3 Pirates on the board.
Quotes
- Summon
- Ra! Reinforcements be here!
- Attack
- Avast!
Lore
Skycap'n Kragg is an original Hearthstone character.[3] He is clearly an orc Pirate, and the Horde sigil on his mount's chest seems to proudly assert his loyalty to the faction.
Trivia
- Shortly before the release of The Grand Tournament it was decided that the original design for this card was too powerful and must be removed from the game.[4][5][6] Because of his starring role in the expansion's cinematic, rather than simply remove Kragg, the title and card art for Skycap'n Kragg were swapped with those of Captain Scaleblade[7] (also a legendary Pirate minion) allowing the character of Kragg to survive in a new and less unbalanced form.[8][9] Kragg's original design would eventually be released 16 months later as Patches the Pirate.[10]
- Kragg's "Charrrrrge" card text was used instead of simply "Charge" in order to make him feel "unique".[11]
