This page lists cards with card art depicting saurok.
Lore[]
- The saurok are a race of lizard-men, created by the mogu from the fauna of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, choosing several particularly sturdy varieties of local reptiles, designed to be smart enough to use weapons and fight for the mogu, but over the years some escaped. They are found across Pandaria, in dungeons and in the open.
In Hearthstone[]
Saurok make their first Hearthstone appearance as one of the races inhabiting Un'Goro Crater in Journey to Un'Goro, even though Un'Goro is on an entirely different continent than Pandaria and had not previously known to be home to saurok. However, according to Dean Ayala, the fact that the saurok were created by the mogu, who in turn were created by the titans, combined with Un'Goro being such a heavily titan-influenced location, makes it "not so unrealistic" that similar beings were created there.[1]
The Un'Goro Madness micro-holiday in World of Warcraft, which features several characters that were later announced to be part of Journey to Un'Goro, features an elite mob named Akaridal, a saurok dinomancer of the Skumblade tribe, hinting at the saurok's inclusion in the Hearthstone expansion.

Trivia[]
- When designing Un'Goro, Blizzard originally had an idea for a more long-nosed reptilian race that would have resembled crocodiles or alligators more than lizards. The idea was that while the mogu created saurok to deal with humanoid creatures like pandaren, the tol'vir might have had to create a bulkier version because their main threats were not humanoids, but dinosaurs. Several different names were invented for this race concept, though none of them actually got close to shipping, and the only one that Dean Ayala can remember is Reptol, referring to reptiles created by the tol'vir (although Ayala considers it to sound similar to Reptar, a dinosaur character from the American animated series Rugrats). Blizzard ultimately decided that the already existing saurok were "pretty sweet" and decided to just use them instead since they were already doing "a bunch of weird and wacky stuff" with dinosaurs, plants and humanoids in this version of Un'Goro.[2]
- Captain Scaleblade was a legendary saurok minion that was cut during the development of The Grand Tournament.
