This is the un-ranked version of this feature. For the ranked version, see Ranked Play.

Play mode (accessed via the "Play" button) is one of the basic game modes offered in Hearthstone. It is also called "Casual" mode in contrast to "Ranked" mode.

In this mode, players can duel other players to increase their level by clicking on the sun button, in the top left corner of the hero panel after choosing a hero, which will switch to "Unranked" Play from "Ranked" Play — which indicates skill level and the level of opponents they'll face — and earn gold along the way. Whether they're a grizzled veteran or curious newcomer, or fall somewhere in between, matchmaking will pair them up against worthy opponents.

Opponents are randomly selected, or players can select to play against their friends.
