Notes
To edit these notes, go to Template:Feign Death notes.
- Minions affected by this spell will have their Deathrattles activated, but the Deathrattles are not removed or consumed in the process.[1] Minions which have been affected by Feign Death will still trigger their Deathrattles normally upon dying.[2] This means that minions can also be affected by Feign Death more than once, again without Deathrattles being removed or consumed in the process.
- Minions that summon other minions via their Deathrattle will place the newly summoned minion on the far right of the board.[3]
- Baron Rivendare or Necromechanic will cause this card to trigger each Deathrattle twice.[4]
- Minions who have had Deathrattles removed through Silences will not have them triggered by this spell.
- As with the order of activation for minion death and triggered effects, this spell will trigger minions' Deathrattles in the order in which they were summoned, with the first summoned triggered first.[5]
Fixed bugs
- Prior to Patch 6.0.0.13921 (ONiK patch), if you had a lone Dark Cultist or Anubisath Sentinel, casting Feign Death would not cause it to buff itself. However, a lone Anub'ar Ambusher would return itself to your hand.[6] As of Patch 6.0, all of these minions can affect themselves.[7]
Lore
Feign Death is a hunter ability from World of Warcraft that causes the hunter to fall to the ground as though they had died. Computer-controlled enemies will have their aggro against the hunter reset and immediately cease to attack them, while players will automatically de-target the hunter. The hunter's display will also appear to show that the hunter has died.
Feign Death is mostly used for reseting aggro against mobs, allowing the hunter to avoid reprisals from an overly aggravated boss or simply to abort a bad pull. If the mob has any other target on their threat table at the time, they will immediately switch to the next highest priority. This allows the hunter to build excessive aggro before then using Feign Death to return control to the tank. Feign Death is also useful in PvP to interrupt casts and throw-off enemy pets and minions, but can be recognised by other players by the survival of the hunter's pet; if the hunter is truly dead, the pet will despawn, while if they are simply feigning death, the pet will remain active.
Trivia
- The artwork for this card comes from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game "Servants of the Betrayer" series, for the card Feign Death.
