Evolve full.jpg

Evolve Shaman is a shaman deck type that revolves around Whispers of the Old GodsEvolve and other related effects to up the value of minions to higher-costing ones, often utilizing minions with high base mana cost with built-in mana reduction to transform it early for a huge tempo lead.

Evolve Shaman often run high-cost, low-stat cards with high-power Battlecry effects and evolve them into higher-costing ones, usually with better stats. Evolve Shaman is arguably one of the most luck-dependent decks in the game due to the high variance of outcomes, with results spanning across all minions from all classes, from minions with huge stats or strong Deathrattle effects, to extremely understatted Battlecry minions or disastrous board wiping effects.

While a few Evolve-type effects remained in the Year of the Raven, it rotated out many of its key cards, including Evolve itself, and Evolve Shaman as a deck became a Wild-only deck, although it did see a brief return to Standard during the Doom in the Tomb event.

Evolve Shaman returned to Standard with the addition of Ashes of OutlandBogstrok Clacker and Ashes of OutlandBoggspine Knuckles in Ashes of Outland, and gained a huge surge in popularity in Madness at the Darkmoon Faire with Madness at the Darkmoon FaireRevolve and Madness at the Darkmoon FairePit Master.
