Death and Decay is a level 56 Blood and Unholy death knight ability which corrupts a targeted area for 10 seconds, causing Shadow damage to any enemies standing in it. The Blood version causes the death knight's Heart Strike to hit up to 3 additional targets while they stay in the area, while the Unholy version causes Scourge Strike to hit all enemies near the target.
Death and Decay is one of the most iconic death knight abilities. It was first used by the Death Knight unit in Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, and later by the Lich hero unit in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. It is also used by a variety of necromantic mobs in World of Warcraft.
