Strategy

Cornered Sentry's battlecry is comparable to LegacyLeeroy Jenkins, in that it's an over-statted minion with the disadvantage of summoning multiple 1/1 minions for your opponent. Much like Leeroy, there are a few ways to get around the downside. The most simple way is pairing it with a one-damage area of effect like LegacyWhirlwind, Whispers of the Old GodsRavaging Ghoul, or NaxxramasDeath's Bite (wild format). This combo is especially effective if you also have a LegacyFrothing Berserker in play. You can also combo it with LegacyMind Control Tech to guarantee the battlecry, although this runs the high risk of stealing a 1/1 Raptor, or with Mean Streets of GadgetzanSecond-Rate Bruiser to trigger its mana cost reduction.

Without any combos, Cornered Sentry can idealistically be seen as a 2/3 Taunt, since the three Raptors will deal that much damage to her. However, your opponent can buff the raptor tokens if you leave them alive, making them trade better. This is especially problematic against a Hunter or Druid, who can potentially make use of the Raptor's beast tag.

Trivia

  • Her death quote is a reference to the scene from the 1993 film Jurassic Park where game warden Robert Muldoon, played by actor Bob Peck, is killed attempting to hunt down a raptor. While he has the raptor in sight, a second raptor appears from a bush to his left. Muldoon looks at the raptor and says “Clever girl” before it jumps on him.
  • The three raptors also refer to the meme (called "Prattkeeping") that spawned from the movie Jurassic World (2015).
