This page lists current and past bugs in Hearthstone, minor or major errors within the game which cause deviations from intended behaviour.

Note to editors: Bugs should only be added to the list if they can be verified by multiple people/sources with screenshot or video proof that the bug still exists as of the latest Hearthstone patch. Any observed sequence of events that does not match what official sources state should happen is considered a bug.

Existing bugs

Non-gameplay bugs

AI deck selection flyout

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Click Solo Adventures, click on "Practice", click "Choose" and pick a Deck. Then click these 3 buttons quickly in succession: "Back" button, "Choose" button and then the incoming "Choose" button. The AI deck selection flyout no longer shows up until you click "Back" and allow the whole deck selection menu to fully animate out before clicking the "Choose" button.

Arena rewards

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

You can open your Arena rewards alternatively with number keys (1-5). But if you manage to press the keys before the animation is finished, your reward will overlap with the packed box.

Blurry game

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

In your Collection, if you right click on a Card back or a Hero and click the "Back" button in a quick succession, the game will become blurry.

Deck Limit of 2 for Legendary cards

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

"Deck Limit: 2" is sometimes displayed incorrectly for Legendary cards in the Collection Manager while constructing a deck. It is currently unknown what causes the bug.

Decks ordered incorrectly

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Sometimes if you quit the game and go back to My Collection, your Decks will be ordered incorrectly.

Enlarged card

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

You can make a big copy of a card linger on-screen in the My Collection screen if you drag and drop a card from your collection into your deck, on the collection screen. Doing this makes an overlay of the card, overlapping the current position, that doesn't move even when you change screens, until you exit the collection or mouse outside the window. If you right click a card, behind the right click screen, the card turns very big.

Golden Alternate heroes

Last verified in: Patch 2.8.0.9554 (TGT pre-purchase patch)

If you have one of the new Alternate heroes golden (Hero SkinsAlleria Windrunner, Hero SkinsMagni Bronzebeard, Hero SkinsMedivh), the border around their hero power is not golden when you enter a lobby of any of the play modes.

Similarly, when you enter the game, the area surrounding the hero (aka hero tray) is not golden.

Golden Fan of Knives

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

LegacyFan of Knives states that you obtain it on Level 29, but it is first unlocked on Level 28.

Hidden Quest buffer

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you don't complete your Quests for 6 days and don't use the reroll function on them, you can store up to 3 quests in the hidden buffer, making it 6 quests in total.

This has been confirmed as a bug by Ben Brode:

In-game gold

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When you start the game, your gold won't be shown to you until you go to a sub-menu and return back to the main menu.

Old Murk-Eye/Captain's Parrot

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

After you receive LegacyOld Murk-Eye or LegacyCaptain's Parrot as a reward for having all Murlocs/Pirates and go to your collection, they can appear there multiple times. This is purely a visual bug and can be fixed by restarting the Hearthstone client.

Pandaria board (crops)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

You can move the crops on the Pandaria board off-screen with correct timing.

Pandaria board (water)

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

On the Pandaria playing board, the water that flows to the plants flows forever without regrowing any plants. It happens on monitors with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

Quest pop-up

Last verified in: Patch 2.8.0.9554 (TGT pre-purchase patch)

After you win an Adventure game, the Quest progress pop-up will not appear (in case of Total Dominance quest).

Stormwind board (Griffon)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

The Griffon on the Stormwind playing board no longer follows the mouse cursor.

UI elements overlapping

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you click My Collection, Card back tab and Hero tab in a quick succession, some of the UI elements will overlap.

AI bugs

AI killing its own minions

Blackrock MountainGeneral Drakkisath's AI has been noted to use Blackrock MountainDrakkisath's Command on its own LegacyKidnapper.

Rend Blackhand's AI has been noted to use Blackrock MountainBlackwing Corruptor's Battlecry on its own minions.

AI Rogue has been noted to use LegacyBackstab on its own minions.

Reports of the "Improved AI" after Patch 4.0:

AI Priest using LegacyShadow Word: Pain on its own minions.

The League of ExplorersArchaedas using LegacyShadow Word: Death on his LegacyEarth Elemental.

AI Warlock using LegacyShadow Bolt on his Succubus.

AI returning its own minions to their hand

AI has been noted to return a newly played minion back to its hand with LegacyYouthful Brewmaster (Druid AI) or LegacyKidnapper (Blackrock MountainGeneral Drakkisath).

Kel'Thuzad

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If the player controls a NaxxramasKel'Thuzad and has any Taunt minions, the AI will stop attacking with its minions, mistakenly thinking that any Taunt minions it kills will just resurrect at the end of turn. This can be used to defeat most AI and Adventure bosses.

Majordomo Executus (encounter)

When in the Ragnaros phase of the boss battle, Ragnaros may bug out and refuse to use his Hero Power completely, even if the player has a lot of minions and he has sufficient mana left.

Adventures gameplay

Demolisher and Kel'Thuzad (encounter)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If dealing 2 damage at start of your turn causes Kel'Thuzad to enter Phase 2 by lowering his Armor to 0, his turn immediately starts instead, plays out to completion, followed by the game ending in a draw.

Firesworn

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

In the Blackrock MountainGarr encounter, the Deathrattle of Firesworn does not count the death of any enemy Firesworns that have died earlier in the turn. It only counts friendly ones.

Jaws

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

In the Gluth encounter, Gluth uses a weapon called Jaws (Normal/Heroic). When a minion with Deathrattle gets silenced and then dies, it still triggers Jaws. This is inconsistent with the fact that Goblins vs GnomesScarlet Purifier and Goblins vs GnomesLil' Exorcist both do not count nor trigger on minions with Deathrattle that are silenced.

Massive Runeblade (Heroic)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

In the NaxxramasInstructor Razuvious encounter, Massive Runeblade does not actually do double damage to Heroes as stated on the card text if it was equipped prior to aura effects, such as LegacySpiteful Smith's Enrage. The weapon simply deals additional damage equal to its base Attack, so the Runeblade will deal 22 damage instead of 24. This does not happen in normal difficulty, where the Runeblade is working correctly.

Moira Bronzebeard and Immune hero

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If your hero is Immune and you have no minions with Taunt on the board during the Emperor Thaurissan encounter, Moira Bronzebeard (Normal/Heroic) will instead choose to attack into one of the minions and potentially die. This contradicts her card text that she will never attack minions unless they have Taunt.

If there are no valid targets for Moira to attack (every target including the hero is Immune or has Stealth), Moira will not attack anything.

Nefarian (encounter)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you deal enough damage to break his armor and kill Nefarian in Phase 1 in a single hit, the battle immediately ends in victory and skips Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the encounter. This is probably because Nefarian is the same entity/character in both Phase 1 and 3, so killing him ends the encounter directly. This bug exists on both Normal and Heroic difficulties.

Siege Engine and Ragnaros

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

When Majordomo Executus is killed and Ragnaros is summoned for the next phase of the fight, if Majordomo controls a Goblins vs GnomesSiege Engine, the game hangs. The player does not see Steam Engine trigger (Ragnaros gains 8 Armor after entering play) until the player restarts Hearthstone and reconnects to the game.

Golden card bugs

Animations on card art

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

Blizzard confirmed that the animations on some golden cards (on the card art, not the animations when you play the card) are bugged with missing layers and/or animations since Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch). Affected cards are golden Hero SkinsGul'dan. There are possibly other affected cards and heroes not listed here.

Golden Hero SkinsRexxar was also bugged, but (only) Rexxar was fixed in Patch 2.8.0.9554.

LegacyDread Infernal, LegacyBlizzard, Goblins vs GnomesNeptulon, LegacyRagnaros the Firelord, and LegacyGuardian of Kings were also affected by this bug but as of Patch 3.1.0.10357 these cards were fixed. Video proof of this can be seen below.

Transform/create/copy Effects

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Currently the behavior used by regular cards that create, transform or copy cards on Golden minions can be inconsistent. Ben Brode responded with: "Most of the things you've brought up are bugs", however it's not clear which specifically are bugs and which don't. Here is the list of current interactions of regular cards used on golden minions and whether the resulting minion is regular or golden.

Imp-losion (and possibly Bane of Doom) spawning golden minions were already considered a bug by Ben Brode:

https://twitter.com/bdbrode/status/574250317405007873

Nerubian

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Golden Nerubians from The Grand TournamentBeneath the Grounds/The Grand TournamentAnub'arak have no golden animation

(Both images above from the Reddit thread)

This issue does not affect golden Nerubian Eggs, as the 4/4 Nerubian from it is a different card (FP1_007t, Rare card, with Naxxramas emboss in the background). The affected card is AT_036t, a TGT card with no Gem on the card, with TGT emboss in the background.

Audio-related gameplay bugs

Arena key

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

The sound effect of upgrading an Arena key after a win is not synchronized with the visual effects.

Button sound in background

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you enable the "Sound in Background" option and switch to other programs such that their windows are overlaid over the Hearthstone window in the background, when you move your mouse inside the non-Hearthstone window over the locations of where Hearthstone UI buttons are, you can still hear UI button sound effects as though the active non-Hearthstone program window is not present.

Loud Sound Effects

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Sound effects scale with number of actors, making them much louder in some cases. This bug was introduced in Patch 4.0. It happens with multiple card effects.

Savage Roar:

Mysterious Challenger (Secrets):

More cards: Unleash the Hounds, Mukla's Champion.

Missing play sound of minions

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you use LegacyFaceless Manipulator on one of the minions, return the new minion back to your hand and then replay the minion again, his play sound will be missing. Same bug happens if you damage Blackrock MountainGrim Patron and return the new one back to your hand and then replay it again.

Missing sounds of adventure minions

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Several adventure-only minions lack various sound effects.

Weapon sound

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

The sound of equipping a Weapon is much quieter than expected.

Spectator bugs

Slow motion

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you enter or exit Spectator mode while a hero's portrait is exploding in slow motion (in a match), Unity's Time.timescale (or otherwise) is not reset properly, causing the game to remain in slow motion until the game client is restarted.

Spectating a Tutorial game

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

When a player spectates a win vs Illidan (tutorial), the win is broadcasted for their friend list as well.

Tavern Brawl bugs

Annoy-o-tron (boss)

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

Annoy-o-Tron's Hero Power in Tavern Brawl does not give Taunt/Divine Shield to "negative" Attack minions.

Core Hound Pup

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

Core Hound Pup revives only friendly Core Hound Pups at the end of the turn. This contradicts its card text.

Golemagg and Recombobulator

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you use Goblins vs GnomesRecombobulator on Golemagg, the game crashes server-side because there are no collectible 50 mana minions it could turn into.

Randomonium Tavern Brawl and Loatheb

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

Costs of spells are not properly reset when NaxxramasLoatheb's effect wears off in Randomonium Tavern Brawl.

Wild Magic (Hero Power)

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

Using Wild Magic Hero Power against a Ragnaros Hero gives your opponent a spell, not you.

History sidebar bugs

Visual-related gameplay bugs

Alarm-o-Bot and buffs

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

When you buff LegacyAlarm-o-Bot with a spell (for example LegacyBlessing of Kings) before it swaps for another minion and replay the Alarm-o-bot again, it will display incorrect stats on the card (only for the opponent) when it enters the play (4/7 instead of 0/3).

Animations and sound effects playing multiple times

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If your action (Spell or Hero Power) gets interrupted by a minion trigger, its animation will play multiple times. Some of the exampes are listed below:

If you play LegacySacrificial Pact while having LegacyAuchenai Soulpriest and Goblins vs GnomesFloating Watcher in play, its animation will play twice.

If you use LegacyArmor Up! or play LegacyShield Block while having Goblins vs GnomesSiege Engine in play, their animation will play twice.

If you play spells, such as Goblins vs GnomesDark Wispers or LegacyUnleash the Hounds while having LegacyKnife Juggler in play, their animation will play multiple times.

If you play area of effect spells, such as Goblins vs GnomesLightbomb or LegacyAvenging Wrath while having LegacyAcolyte of Pain or LegacyFrothing Berserker in play, their animation will play multiple times.

The sound effect of Jaraxxus' LegacyINFERNO! plays again for each LegacyKnife Juggler that triggers on Inferno's summon. Both players in the game can hear this bug.

When an opponent attacks with LegacyTruesilver Champion, his portrait visibly lifts off the board twice, once before the healing trigger and once after it.

If LegacyNat Pagle triggers at the start of turn and draws into a Goblins vs GnomesFlame Leviathan or Fatigue damage, Nat Pagle's lightning icon visibly triggers but is interrupted by Flame Leviathan dealing 2 damage to all minions (or the Fatigue Damage animation), followed by Nat Pagle's lightning icon visibly triggering again, drawing another card. The second draw is actually the normal draw for the turn, so this bug is only visual in that Nat Pagle should not have visibly triggered a second time[Tested by Adys, Fisker and Xinhuan].

Anub'ar Ambusher

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

If NaxxramasAnub'ar Ambusher dies to LegacyExplosive Trap, and its Deathrattle tries to return the surviving attacking minion (that triggered the trap) to your hand, the minion will appear glitched out on the playing field. If you click on the empty space where the returned card should be, the card will appear back in your hand.

Anub'arak

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If you double click on The Grand TournamentAnub'arak after he takes fatal damage but before his Deathrattle fully animates, he may remain visually stuck on the board. If he does, then all minions that engage in attack will not correctly move back to their starting locations, and minions can be placed visually anywhere on the board. In addition, the Anub'arak minion that died may remain visually stuck in your hand.

Armor

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

The amount of Armor bugged out to behind the Warrior's portrait.

Here are a few pictures that show what happened:

Attack value multiplied before death

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If LegacySacrificial Pact is used on Jaraxxus, his attack value visually changes from 3 to 9 and then 24 for a brief moment before he dies. If his attack is X, it changes to X*3 then to X*8 (tested with LegacySpiteful Smith or LegacyTruesilver Champion).

A similar bug can be reproduced by playing LegacyBite or LegacyHeroic Strike and then dying.

A similar bug can be reproduced by equipping a weapon and then attacking into an enemy NaxxramasZombie Chow.

Big Game Hunter/Stormpike Commando

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you use LegacyBig Game Hunter or LegacyStormpike Commando's Battlecry, return it back to your hand and then replay the minion at a different board position, their subsequent Battlecry visual effect will appear from original location where they were initially played (your opponent does not see this bug).

Chromatic Dragonkin

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Blackrock MountainChromatic Dragonkin doesn't have his own buff. He reuses Brow Furrow from Goblins vs GnomesFloating Watcher.

Commanding Shout

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If one of your minions that has LegacyCommanding Shout attacks an enemy minion, the Skull symbol is incorrectly shown.

"Created by" cards

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Sometimes, the created cards have incorrect text. There have been reports of this happening to spectators, as well to players. It's possible it has to do something with reconnecting.

Crush and Silenced minion

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

The Goblins vs GnomesCrush animation is not played when used on a Silenced minion.

Divine Shield, Taunt

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If a minion that does not normally have them is granted Divine Shield and or Taunt, bounced to the hand (such as by LegacyYouthful Brewmaster or LegacySap) and replayed, it may erroneously display the visual effect of having Divine Shield/Taunt. It does not actually have them, and gameplay proceeds normally.

It can also happen with Entomb:

Dreadsteed and Twisting Nether

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If you play LegacyTwisting Nether with Dreadsteeds on the board, the Dreadsteed Deathrattle animation will play at the wrong angles, sometimes being completely invisible, other times clipping through the camera.

Forgotten Torch

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you play The League of ExplorersForgotten Torch, the created card The League of ExplorersRoaring Torch is not visibly shuffled into the deck. There is no animation for it, giving the impression that the card is not created.

Acknowledged by Blizzard QA:

Gladiator's Longbow

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you have a LegacyGladiator's Longbow equipped, play LegacyBlade Flurry, click Hero Power to equip a new weapon, then queue an attack before the Gladiator's Longbow visually disappears, your hero is visually Immune but not actually Immune. The fake Immune will go away if you make another attack with a second Gladiator's Longbow (or possibly under other circumstances).

Hero Power

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If you use your Hero Power so late in your turn that it says 'Too late! Your turn is already over.' rather than performing it, then the Hero Power remains flipped, even on your next turn. It will be highlighted in green and it can be clicked on.

Hover over discarded card

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you play LegacyDoomguard, Succubus or LegacySoulfire and hover over the card that is going to be discarded, its size will increase drastically.

Immune and Taunt

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

Minions with Taunt and Immune should indicate that the Taunt is temporarily disabled by having the visual effect more transparent (like minions with Taunt and Stealth do).

Impact animation for 100+ damage

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

The impact animation and sound effects for Attacks that deal 100+ damage is using the same ones as for 3 damage.

Instructor Razuvious' Understudies

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

NaxxramasInstructor Razuvious' Understudies will still show their "Zzz" summoning sickness animation when you steal them with NaxxramasMind Control Crystal, even though you can attack with them right away if you buff them above 0 Attack (before or after stealing).

Kezan Mystic and Secret order

Last verified in: Patch 2.5.0.8416

Goblins vs GnomesKezan Mystic maintains the play order of the stolen Secret, but always places it at the end, where a newly played newest Secret would appear. This is likely a visual bug, as under all other circumstances, play order and visual order are the same thing.

Lock and Load and Soulfire

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you play The Grand TournamentLock and Load, then play LegacySoulfire, and the card created by Lock and Load is the one chosen to be discarded, it remains discarded permanently in a visually glitched state.

In Tavern Brawl Battle of Tol Barad, if you play Succubus and it discards the spell created by the Tavern Brawl rule, the same glitch occurs.

Mana tray

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

If you pick up a card in the hand to play it (e.g. Blackrock MountainDragon's Breath) right before it visually gets discounted by on-going animation effects (such as Deaths), it will visually highlight the old amount of Mana crystals in the bottom right corner.

You can desync your available Mana Crystal display in the Mana Tray by playing another card quickly after using LegacyInnervate.

You can also do it with LegacyWild Growth.

You can also do it with Goblins vs GnomesGrove Tender.

If you perform actions at the exact same time as your opponent concedes and the game tells you 'Too late! Your turn is over.' you will sometimes gain mana rapidly until it say 20/10 mana.

Mana tray (Overload)

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

If you play any Overload card and then LegacyFelguard (in this order), the last mana crystal will not have the lock icon displayed on your next turn.

You have 10 mana and use a card with 2 overload. On your next turn you play reduced LegacyNourish for 0 mana (due to the effect of Blackrock MountainEmperor Thaurissan), spend another 8 mana and then play Blackrock MountainLava Shock for 2 mana. The mana tray will display 2/10 available crystals, but there will be more crystals highlighted incorrectly.

You have 10 mana and use an overload card for less mana than the card's overload (LegacyForked Lightning, LegacyDust Devil or cards discounted by Emperor Thaurissan). On your next turn some of your available mana crystals will not be highlighted. How many crystals will not be highlighted will depend on each card's final cost subtracted from the card's overload value. So for example playing Forked Lightning will cause one of your crystals to not be highlighted properly.

You have 5 mana and use two of the following cards: Forked Lightning or Dust Devil to get 4 mana overload. On your next turn you will play 1 mana card with 1 overload, such as LegacyLightning Bolt. The overload lock will not be displayed on the last mana crystal on your following turn.

Mimiron's Head

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Due to how Goblins vs GnomesMimiron's Head visual effects work, its animation and board images of Mechs can glitch out. In particular, if a different effect (such as LegacyNightmare, LegacyHoming Chicken or LegacyDoomsayer marks minions TO_BE_DESTROYED before Mimiron's Head does (See http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Advanced_rulebook#.27Pending_destroy.27_bugs_and_effects and Rule 5), they will visually destroy (instead of remaining visibly on the board) when the Forced Death Phase of Mimiron's Head runs, becoming unable to be used in the animation. Failure to complete the animation will leave uninteractive visual 'copies' behind on the board.

Four scenarios with visual side-effects are shown below:

One mech visually dead (V-07-TR-0N spawned, 1 mech in animation with Mimiron's Head)

All mechs visually dead except Mimiron's Head (V-07-TR-0N spawned, no animation)

All mechs visually dead (V-07-TR-0N spawned, no animation)

If you play Doomsayer, LegacyAlarm-o-Bot, Mech, Mimiron's Head in this order, with another mech in hand (V-07-TR-0N spawned, no animation)

Misdirection

Last verified in: Patch 2.8.0.9554 (TGT pre-purchase patch)

If you attack into an enemy hero who played LegacyMisdirection, then play new minions quickly before the animation resolves, the crosshair can fly over the new minions, even though they are not eligible to be misdirected into.

Multiple animations going off very quickly

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you manage to steal NaxxramasDeathcharger from one of the Naxxramas' bosses and kill it with NaxxramasBaron Rivendare on board, its Deathrattle animation triggers twice so quickly that it only appears to trigger once.

The same can be observed with two Living Bombs exploding simultaneously at the start of the turn.

Nozdormu (multiple copies)

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you manage to get multiple copies of LegacyNozdormu in play, his sandstorm animation will stack. With sufficient Nozdormus in play, the sandstorm grows thick enough that it will eventually obscure the Battlefield from the player's view, making the game extremely difficult to play.

Nozdormu and return to hand effects

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Returning LegacyNozdormu to hand by effects like LegacyFreezing Trap or LegacySap will cause the sandstorm effect to remain for the remainder of the match. This is purely a visual bug, turns no longer last 15 seconds (See Nozdormu timer bug).

Nozdormu and Deathlord

Last verified in: Patch 2.5.0.8416

If a LegacyNozdormu is brought into play via the death of NaxxramasDeathlord, the sandstorm effect is not activated. This is purely a visual bug, turns will still last 15 seconds (See Nozdormu timer bug).

Obtained Secrets

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If your opponent plays a Secret obtained from Blackrock MountainNefarian or similar cards like The Grand TournamentBurgle or The Grand TournamentSpellslinger, the text "Created by ..." will be missing on the card when it enters the play.

Played minion visually returns to hand

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you play a minion that has a Choose One or a minion that has a Battlecry that targets another Character, then right-click to cancel playing the minion, followed quickly by playing another minion from your hand (while the first minion is still animating back from the Battlefield back into your hand), the second minion will get played into the Battlefield, but sometimes will also visually bounce back to your hand right after it has been played. The minion is considered played and in the Battlefield with mana costs paid for, but will visually remain in your hand until you play another card, whereupon the minion will go back from your hand into the correct Battlefield position.

Poisonous minions

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If minion with the Poison ability such as LegacyEmperor Cobra is reduced to 0 attack by Goblins vs GnomesShrinkmeister, when attacking with it or into it, a Skull symbol incorrectly shows that the target will be killed by Poison. If the target has Divine Shield or is Immune, causing the Poisonous minion to do 0 damage and thus not trigger, the Skull symbol is also incorrectly shown.

Poultryizer

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

New in Patch 3.0, Poultryizer transforms the target minion before the animation finishes.

Rank image

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

During a ranked match's victory/defeat animation where your Rank image is shrinking, you can observe a Rank 15 image for a brief moment.

Reconnect after Fatigue

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you reconnect to a game after you enter Fatigue, the Deck image will be shown again.

Rend Blackhand (summoning glitch)

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Minor visual glitch appears when playing Blackrock MountainRend Blackhand after Patch 3.0.

Return to hand effects and minions with modified cost

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Returning to hand and replaying minions that have their mana cost actively reduced or increased (by LegacyMana Wraith or similar effects) will display their original cost (only for the opponent) on the card when it enters the play.

The same bug can be observed by returning and replaying a LegacyMountain Giant/LegacyMolten Giant/LegacySea Giant/Goblins vs GnomesClockwork Giant. It will display its original cost on the card (only for the opponent) when it enters the play.

This can also be observed by replaying a minion that has been affected by LegacyFreezing Trap.

Return to hand effects on stolen minions

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

If you steal a minion that has been on the board for multiple turns with LegacyCabal Shadow Priest or LegacyShadow Madness, return the stolen minion to your hand and replay it again, it will not have the "Zzz" summoning sickness animation indicating that it cannot attack.

Return to hand effects on transformed minions

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you return a LegacySheep back into your hand and replay it, it will not show the "Zzz" summoning sickness animation. It does not matter if the Sheep attacked that turn or not. For this bug to happen, the Sheep needs to be transformed (by LegacyPolymorph) on prior turns. If you LegacyPolymorph a minion this turn, return the Sheep back to your hand and replay it all in one turn, it will show the summoning sickness animation correctly. The same behavior can be observed with LegacyHex.

Savage Combatant

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When The Grand TournamentSavage Combatant triggers, the red graphical effect centered over Savage Combatant is the shape and size of a Hero Portrait, rather than a minion.

LegacyInjured Blademaster uses the same incorrect effect for its Battlecry.

Secrets with modified cost

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When your opponent plays a Secret that has its mana cost modified, it will display the mana cost in white color on the card when it enters the play.

Shadowstep

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you play a minion and LegacyShadowstep it quickly multiple times before it goes visually into the hand, the minion's final image on the board may appear smaller.

Spells with modified cost (aura)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When your opponent plays a Spell that had its mana cost modified by an aura, such as effects of NaxxramasLoatheb or LegacySorcerer's Apprentice, it will display the original mana cost on the card when it enters the play. Spells that had their mana cost modified by a buff, such as effects of Blackrock MountainEmperor Thaurissan or Nefarian's hero power update the mana cost properly. If the Spell has been affected by both an aura and a buff, only the buff modification will be shown.

Temporary gap in hand

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you quickly play a spell after you played another card, a gap will form in your hand for a brief moment. If there are any minions that trigger while you cast your spell, e.g. LegacyLorewalker Cho, the gap stays there for a longer period of time.

If you draw an extremely large number of cards, and continue to queue up more played cards from your hand while doing this, the gap in your hand increases with no upper limit. This could cause a card to be all the way off-screen and be impossible to select until animations finished.

Tilted minions

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

Sometimes, your opponent's minion will appear on the board at an angle. Your opponent does not see this bug.

Transform effects

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If you play LegacyFaceless Manipulator while an animation of a previously played Battlecry is ongoing, sometimes the post-transform minion will slice into place from the left side of the battlefield.

Weapon not covered

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

Sometimes, your (or your opponent's) weapon does not get covered after ending the turn. This might have to do something with equipping the weapon and clicking the end turn quickly before the animations are resolved.

Windfury and Transform effects

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If you Transform a minion that has Windfury, its Windfury visual effect remains on the battlefield until the game ends or you reconnect.

Ysera

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When a player concedes during LegacyYsera's end of turn "card-summoning" animation, the game will emit flashes of green lines in a seizure-inducing pattern.

Dying (due to LegacyLife Tap) or conceding during Nexus-Champion Sareed's animation has a similar effect:

Network bugs

Connection loss

A very common bug - if the connection between your client and the server is lost, sometimes you will never receive notification that anything happened. Symptoms are that the rope never burns, emotes still work but you never see your opponent's highlight change or cards get played. If the connection is later re-established, the server will send all of your opponent's actions, over however many turns you missed, all at once. If you think you have disconnected, close and re-open the client to try and reconnect to your game before your next turn is over!

It is believed that the 'infinitely long turn' effect can be caused by dropping only one packet (see the packet loss section below) - so even if your connection is solid, it may still rarely happen.

Server/client desync (packet loss)

Very rarely, your opponent will take an action, but the server will fail to send the action to your Hearthstone client. The state of the game is still correctly including all actions on the server, and the server will still correctly tell you the new Health of characters whenever damage takes place, but from your end, minions will mysteriously take the wrong amounts of damage, or die when taking non-fatal damage, or other consequences caused by you having missed a minion or spell being played.

Gameplay bugs

After Play Phase

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Normally after each outermost Phase, we run the following Steps:

  • Aura Update (Health/Attack)
  • Summon Resolution Step
  • Aura Update (Health/Attack)
  • Death Creation Step
  • Aura Update (Other)

However, when you play a minion, after the After Play Phase and before the After Summon Phase, only the following steps run:

  • Aura Update (Health/Attack)
  • Aura Update (Other)

This is the only Phase in Hearthstone documented to be missing Steps after it. Besides the missing Steps, they are in all other ways two distinct Phases.

Example consequences of this bug:

  • If you have a Knife Juggler, play a minion and it dies to Snipe, your friendly Knife Juggler will still trigger.
  • If you have a Rumbling Elemental and a Knife Juggler (any order of play), play a minion and the Rumbling Elemental mortally wounds an opponent Explosive Sheep, the Explosive Sheep will not die until after the Knife Juggler also triggers.

Area of effect damage effects

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Goblins vs GnomesExplosive Sheep ignores (does not continue to damage) mortally wounded (0 or less Health) minions. However, all other AoE damage that has been tested overkills mortally wounded characters, and LegacyHealing Totem can heal mortally wounded minions.

Bane of Doom, Mortal Coil on already dead minion

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

LegacyBane of Doom and LegacyMortal Coil targeting a minion that dies before the spell goes off may or may not trigger the side-effect, seemingly inconsistently.

Technical explanation:

In Hearthstone, Spells and Battlecries targeting a minion still activate and affect that minion if the minion is killed in an earlier Phase, such as by LegacyViolet Teacher spawning a token and a friendly LegacyKnife Juggler reducing it to 0 Health. Furthermore, when the minion moves to the graveyard, its attributes, such as Health, are reset.

If LegacyBane of Doom or LegacyMortal Coil are used to target such a minion, they damage the minion after it has been moved to the graveyard. This means their side-effect will go off if they reduce the reset version of the minion to 0 or less Health, regardless of their state prior to dying.

Boneguard Lieutenant

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

There are two reports of people picking up The Grand TournamentBoneguard Lieutenant after using their Hero Power and not getting the Inspire effect.

Brawl

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

Casting LegacyBrawl that causes a LegacyViolet Teacher/Hero SkinsIllidan Stormrage to spawn a minion, that causes a LegacyKnife Juggler to throw a knife, that causes the death of LegacyAbomination/Explosive Sheeps that clears the entire board of minions, will result in a situation where Brawl resolves with 0 minions on the board. When this happens, the Brawl animation runs forever, requiring a client restart.

Charge

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Sometimes you cannot attack with a played Charge minion. Instead of being able to click on and order the Charge minion to attack, you will get 'dust clouds' from clicking on the ground beneath it, even if the minion survives a turn. This is a client side bug only - the minion is really in play, and disconnecting and reconnecting should make it interactible again. It is theorized that if you do not click on the charge minion while it's being put into play, the bug will not occur.

Coldarra Drake/Garrison Commander and Steal effects

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Stealing a The Grand TournamentColdarra Drake/The Grand TournamentGarrison Commander does not refresh your Hero Power if you already used it that turn. When a Coldarra Drake/Garrison Commander is played, summoned or transformed into, in the next Aura Update (Health/Attack) Step, it will refresh your Hero Power. In addition, during the Inspire Phase, Coldarra Drake/Garrison Commander queue and trigger to refresh your Hero Power.

As a consequence of the above rules, stealing (using LegacyMind Control or otherwise) a Coldarra Drake/Garrison Commander does not refresh your Hero Power:

Combat canceled after death processing

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If you begin combat, but triggers on preparing to attack (during the "Combat Preparation Phase") remove your target first, the attack aborts and you are not exhausted or lose durability. This is the normal case, and can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1MkS7_jj0U

However, if the target is alive after the "Combat Preparation Phase" BUT the Death Phase following the "Combat Preparation Phase" THEN causes your target to die, a glitch occurs where the attacker is stuck in mid air and cannot be used to attack again. For example, an enemy minion is summoned, triggering an enemy LegacyKnife Juggler, mortally wounding an allied Goblins vs GnomesBoom Bot. During the subsequent Death Phase the Boom Bot Deathrattle mortally wounds the defender, and THEN it is removed from play, and then combat glitches out. This has happened with both Hero and Minion attackers. The extra Death Phase seems to be the culprit.

Commanding Shout

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

LegacyCommanding Shout states that your minions can't be reduced below 1 Health this turn. However, Commanding Shout only applies to minions after the Summon Resolution Step. Therefore, there are multiple scenarios in which your new minions won't receive the buff, for example:

If you steal a minion, it does not gain the Commanding Shout enchantment.

If one of your minions is Transformed with a spell transformer, the post-transformed minion does not have the enchantment.

If you play Blackrock MountainGrim Patron, Commanding Shout and Goblins vs GnomesBouncing Blade, it should result in a board full of 3/1 Patrons for the player. However, this is not the case.

Below are the examples where Commanding Shout works correctly:

If one of your minions gets stolen by LegacySylvanas Windrunner' Deathrattle, it will keep the enchantment until the end of your turn.

If one of your minions is Transformed with a minion transformer, the post-transformed minion will receive the enchantment.

If you play a self-transformer like a LegacyDruid of the Claw, the final minion will also receive the enchantment.

Commanding Shout and Sea Reaver

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

If you play LegacyCommanding Shout with a 1 health allied minion in play, and the drawn card is The Grand TournamentSea Reaver, the 1 health allied minion will be reduced to 0 health, even though Commanding Shout's card text says it draws a card last of all.

Dancing minions

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

In Showdown at Blackrock Mountain, when playing as Ragnaros, if you have Core Hound Pups out on the board, your minions may swap position after you play them. The cause seems to be playing minions fast before or after casting Core Hound Puppies, making the played minion be between the Core Hound Pups on the server but not on the client.

It appears to also occur with LegacyFeral Spirit.

Deathlord

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

If a sequence of events causes a NaxxramasDeathlord to die, and its Deathrattle brings into play a low health minion (let's call this Minion X) that dies immediately to another Deathrattle (usually Goblins vs GnomesExplosive Sheep, LegacyAbomination or NaxxramasUnstable Ghoul), Minion X's card image will stay bugged on the board in its death position and physically prevent any interaction with any future minion that occupies that same board position. This is because the minion under Minion X's card image cannot be targeted by the mouse cursor. All the threads below contain screenshots of this bug.

Discover

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you disconnect during the Discover selection choice screen, you cannot click on any card on reconnection.

Divine Spirit

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

LegacyDivine Spirit has rounding errors for Health above about 2^24.

Djinni of Zephyrs and Choose One minions

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you play a targeted Choose One minion on a friendly target, such as Keeper of the Grove, any friendly Djinni of Zephyrs will trigger in the After Play Phase.

"Draw a card" spell

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

When you use LegacyWrath (1 damage version) on your own Goblins vs GnomesMech-Bear-Cat, you first draw the card from your deck, then the Spare Part. When you do the same with LegacyStarfire, you first draw the Spare Part, then the card from your deck. Damage first then, Card Draw (Spare Part first):

Card draw first, then Damage (Spare Part last):

Echoing Ooze and Frozen effects

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

There is a bug where a Frozen NaxxramasEchoing Ooze will not copy the Frozen debuff.

Echoing Ooze and Power Overwhelming

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you use LegacyPower Overwhelming on your Echoing Ooze, at the end of your turn, the Ooze clones itself. Then the original Ooze dies horribly, and the clone survives. This 5/6 clone then dies horribly at the end of your opponent's turn. This directly contradicts what Ben Brode said should happen, but is consistent with how triggers are queued in other cases (in particular, if a trigger appears after the queue is finished, it is not added to the queue).

Elemental Destruction

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

The Grand TournamentElemental Destruction deals its damage one by one and runs on-damage triggers in between, rather than all at once then run all on-damage triggers. Lightning Storm has the same behaviour.

Enrage

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Previously, Enrage Enchantments would be processed in play order - for example if you Aldor/Enrage a minion it has 1+(enrage effect) attack, but if you Enrage/Aldor a minion, it has 1 attack. In addition, un-Enraging and re-Enraging a minion would create a new Enrage Enchantment with new play order.

However, as of Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), the Enrage Enchantment always has priority earlier than all other Enchantments. For example, if a minion is Aldored then Enraged, it has 1 Attack still, and if a minion is Reversing Switched then Enraged, the Enrage does not change the minion's Attack. It is not clear if this is a bug or an undocumented change to the Enrage mechanic.

Faceless Manipulator

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When you target a buffed minion with LegacyFaceless Manipulator, not all of the buffs copy. (However, all of the Damage copies, meaning the Faceless Manipulator might have 0 or less Health and die.)

The pattern seems to be that a self-applied buff is copied as though it was only applied once, not the actual number of times it applied. It seems to happen with LegacyMirror Entity as well.

Faceless Manipulator and Cobalt Guardian/Murloc Tidecaller

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

Using LegacyFaceless Manipulator to transform into a friendly Goblins vs GnomesCobalt Guardian causes the friendly Cobalt Guardian to trigger, the Faceless Manipulator to do the battlecry flash and gain a divine shield, then a friendly LegacyKnife Juggler to trigger. This is a Bug because Cobalt Guardian triggers before the Battlecry that should have made it a Mech even happens, allowing the divine shield to be copied. LegacyMurloc Tidehunter vs LegacyFaceless Manipulator has the same bug, where the transformation and trigger occur before the Battlecry, allowing the extra buff to be copied. This causes a visual bug as well.

Goblins vs GnomesOne-eyed Cheat, LegacyStarving Buzzard and NaxxramasUndertaker all do not have this bug and the self-transformation of Faceless Manipulator and other minions are performed at the expected time. Later, during the "summoning catchup step" (see the Advanced rulebook for more information), the minion notices the minion now satisfies its condition and triggers, but this is the intended and correct ordering.

Faceless Manipulator and Stablemaster

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

LegacyFaceless Manipulator does not copy the temporary Immune effect of The Grand TournamentStablemaster.

Bestial Wrath copies the Immune buff correctly.

Fel Reaver and Overload

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If your opponent has a Fel Reaver in play and you play an Overload card, you don't gain any Overload. So cards like Tunnel Trogg will not gain any Attack.

Flame Leviathan

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If an Goblins vs GnomesUnstable Portal generates a Goblins vs GnomesFlame Leviathan, the opponent can see this in the history sidebar on mouseover and know that a Flame Leviathan is obtained. The 2 damage AoE effect does not occur since the card was not drawn normally from the deck.

Similar can be observed with generating Flame Leviathan from LegacyThoughtsteal.

Also happens with The Grand TournamentBurgle:

Also happens with The Grand TournamentSea Reaver:

Foe Reaper

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

Goblins vs GnomesFoe Reaper 4000 does the initial damage, allows on-damage triggers to run, then deals damage to the minion to the right, then to the left. For example, a new Imp is spawned by Imp Gang Boss causing the For Reaper to hit that instead of the original adjacent minion. http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/forum/topic/17346967051

Same bug was previously observed with LegacySwipe and LegacyExplosive Shot, but they have been fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166, while Foe Reaper 4000 still remains unchanged.

Garrison Commander and Snipe

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

If you use your Hero Power, play The Grand TournamentGarrison Commander, you will see your Hero Power refresh, LegacySnipe trigger and the Garrison Commander die. However, your Hero Power remains available to use still. In general, your Garrison Commander or The Grand TournamentColdarra Drake dying does not exhaust your Hero Power, which might seem unintuitive if you expect it to work like Windfury or like other Auras like LegacyProphet Velen, which turn off when they leave play.

Ben Brode has clarified that he thinks something about this interaction is a bug:

Gladiator's Longbow and Explosive Trap

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

You will take damage if you attack with a LegacyGladiator's Longbow into an LegacyExplosive Trap. Ben Brode, tweeted on 21 June 2014 that this is likely a bug:

  • Q: Gladiator's Longbow. Even though the immune shimmer appears over the hero, they are still damaged by Explosive Trap.
  • A: it's a bug. We're looking into it.
  • Q: What one is the bug? That we're damaged by Explosive Trap or that the immune shimmer appears?
  • A: probably the fact that you're damaged
  • Q: Been debating on Hearthpwn. Some folks figure damage shouldn't occur. Some think it should and shimmer is the bug. Clears it up.
  • A: I think the text makes you feel like you shouldn't take damage even if there were no effect.

This is in contrast with attacking into a Paladin with an LegacyEye for an Eye secret, where the Hunter will not take any damage from the secret. Image Proof: http://imgur.com/wZvCYy8,VFM8sUf (2 images). If a Hunter attacks a LegacyWater Elemental with the bow, it will take no damage from the Water Elemental as expected. Since the Water Elemental did not do any damage, it will also not Freeze the Hunter. Image Proof: http://imgur.com/flp9pWM,165e0KS (2 images).

Gorehowl, Misdirection, Explosive Trap

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If you attack with LegacyGorehowl into an opponent's hero, get redirected by LegacyMisdirection into one of his minions that dies to LegacyExplosive Trap, your attack gets cancelled and you can attack that turn again. If you attack again into opponent's hero or his minions, Gorehowl's attack or durability will not reduce. This is a bug. If you attack again next turn, the attack or durability will reduce properly.

Gormok the Impaler

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

The Grand TournamentGormok the Impaler only checks the condition of his targeted Battlecry 'If you have at least 4 other minions' when played and targeted. If you fail the condition during the Battlecry Phase, then the Battlecry still has its full effect.

However, Blackrock MountainBlackwing Corruptor and Blackrock MountainRend Blackhand, the two targeted 'If you're holding a Dragon' minions, require the condition when played and targeted, and also check it a second time when the Battlecry Phase begins - if it is now failed, the Battlecry visually animates but does not have its effect.

Since these two are inconsistent, one or the other is a bug.

Holy Wrath and Spell Damage

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

When casting LegacyHoly Wrath and the drawn card has a casting cost of 0 (such as the LegacyWisp or Goblins vs GnomesTarget Dummy), the damage done by the spell remains at 0 even if the player has Spell Damage. Using Holy Wrath on a minion with Divine Shield in this situation will not break Divine Shield.

This bug is similar to 2 bugs that has already been fixed, namely using LegacyShield Slam with 0 Armor and using LegacyShadowflame on a 0-attack minion while having Spell Damage used to deal 0 damage incorrectly.

Immune (effect) and random effects

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

Random effects can target an Immune character. For example, LegacyAvenging Wrath, LegacyRagnaros the Firelord or Goblins vs GnomesOgre Brute can still target an Immune character randomly, but will deal 0 damage. This is cited to be unintended specifically for Avenging Wrath.

King's Elekk

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

The Grand TournamentKing's Elekk doesn't trigger draw-based effects, such as Blackrock MountainChromaggus. With Chromaggus on the field, King's Elekk is played and the Joust is won. The card is drawn, but no copy was put in the hand.

Knife Juggler

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When you have a LegacyKnife Juggler on the field and play a Choose One minion that does not transform itself (such as LegacyKeeper of the Grove), Knife Juggler will not trigger.

Sword of Justice also will not trigger, because Sword of Justice is also a trigger in the After Summon Phase.

Lightbomb

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

When casting Goblins vs GnomesLightbomb and there is a LegacyFrothing Berserker on the board, the Frothing Berserker will activate as other minions are damaged by Lightbomb and may grow large enough in Attack to subsequently get killed by Lightbomb. This is unintended as all damage should be dealt before any damage triggers are activated.

However, in the middle of a Goblins vs GnomesLightbomb cast, auras do not turn off. For example, a LegacyDire Wolf Alpha being reduced to 0 HP will not allow a Goblins vs GnomesMechwarper next to it to survive - it still takes 3 damage and dies.

Lock and Load

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Some people reported that The Grand TournamentLock and Load did not give them a spell after casting a spell. However, other people reported that Lock and Load works fine with the very same spells.

Mad Scientist

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Normally, there is a limit of 5 secrets that a player may have in play. However, Mad Scientist's Deathrattle ignores this limit. Mad Scientist will correctly not put into play a second copy of currently active secrets, but will put additional different secrets into play if available in the player's deck. This has been shown to allow at least 11 different secrets to be active on a hero at the same time. Secrets beyond the 5 limit will activate and take effect normally, and in the correct order.

The potential for Mad Scientist's secret (such as LegacyMirror Entity) to trigger immediately off the playing of a minion whose Battlecry kills the Scientist (such as LegacyFire Elemental) is listed as a Known Issue on the official Bug Reports forum as of January 2015, and was initially being "looked into" by developers. However, subsequent tweets by Ben Brode have treated the behavior as intended, albeit unintuitive. It is unknown whether the behavior will be changed.

Malorne and Baron Rivendare

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl Patch)

Community Manager Whirthun tweeted that if a Goblins vs GnomesMalorne dies with NaxxramasBaron Rivendare in play, only 1 copy of Malorne gets shuffled into the deck (twice). However, actual playtesting reveals that 2 copies of Malorne actually gets shuffled into the deck. It is unclear whether this is a bug at the moment. Community Manager Zeriyah has replied in the same thread that this is being looked into. * https://twitter.com/CM_Whirthun/status/539919240933806080

Mirror Entity

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

LegacyMirror Entity copies a minion even if it is at 0 or less Health (e.g. due to LegacySnipe triggering first). The copy has the same Health and thus dies as soon as the After Play Phase ends. This is in contrast to, for example, LegacyFreezing Trap, which correctly remains hidden if the minion is already mortally wounded.

LegacyMirror Entity creates a fresh, undamaged copy of a minion if the played minion was already dead and removed from play in an earlier Phase. This is in contrast to, for example, LegacySnipe, which won't trigger in the same circumstance.

Nefarian

Last verified in: Patch 2.6.0.8834

If Blackrock MountainNefarian is played against a player that had his hero replaced with Ragnaros via Blackrock MountainMajordomo Executus, 2 spells from the original hero class should be given. Instead, 2 Tail Swipes are currently given instead, the cards that are given when Nefarian is played against Adventure bosses.

If Nefarian is played against an Adventure Boss, 2 Tail Swipes should be given to the player. However, when played against NaxxramasNoth the Plaguebringer, Nefarian gives the player 2 Mage spells. When played against NaxxramasHeigan the Unclean, Nefarian gives the player 2 Warlock spells. This is the case on both Normal and Heroic difficulties.

Nozdormu

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If LegacyNozdormu was summoned in the Blackrock MountainHigh Justice Grimstone, the player's turn was almost always skipped instead of having 15 seconds to play because the turn timer of the player was "used up" while replaying the animations of actions made by the AI opponent.

This bug has long existed, and is the case when played against any AI opponent, but was only really noticed during the release of the Dark Iron Arena.

This bug was claimed to be hotfixed later the same day Dark Iron Arena was released.

However, the bug persists with multiple reports daily going on the official Bug Report forums, and also affects the Chromaggus encounter.

The bug is that the 15 seconds start counting for the player the moment the opponent player clicks the "End Turn" button, even if the attacks and animations from the opponent's turn has not completed yet. For example, if the opponent ordered 4 minions to attack and then played Nozdormu quickly and clicked End Turn, on the player's end he might only have seen 3 minions attack so far, the timer already started while he is watching the remaining attack (about 1 second), Nozdormu get played (2 seconds), and finally the "Your Turn" and card draw animation (another 2 seconds), so the player gets about 10 seconds left. The rope duration is ~20 seconds normally (including the unfurling animation), so the rope animation will play and move about twice as fast.

Since the AI plays its entire turn instantaneously, the actual amount of time the player gets out of his allotted 15 seconds is actually just 15 - (entire animation of everything the AI did on his turn) - (2 seconds to animate "Your Turn" on the screen) which is probably close to 2 seconds left.

Technically, this bug affects all game modes, but it is particularly problematic for battles against the AI.

As of Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch), this bug can be observed in Tavern Brawl, and presumably other gameplay modes tooo.

Nozdormu vs AI

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

If you play vs AI, LegacyNozdormu is in play and you don't hit the end turn button in time, you are able to play your cards for the next turn before animations resolve. If you happen to play any Choose one minions, the selection would remain on the screen until the animations resolve and you get your next turn.

Overload

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

In 4.0, Overload was changed from occurring in the Battlecry/Spell Text Phase to occuring when you play the card from your hand. This means that if you play a spell with Overload but it is countered by Counterspell, you still gain the Overload.

Specifically in the case of Spells, this is said to be unintended by Ben Brode.

Poultryizer and Starving Buzzard

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

When LegacyPoultryizer transforms a minion into a LegacyChicken, LegacyStarving Buzzard will trigger. Normally transformation effects that are related to a spell, such as LegacyHex and LegacyPolymorph, do not participate in the Summoning Catchup Step and thus do not trigger Starving Buzzard, LegacyCommanding Shout, etc. Transformation effects that are related to a Battlecry, such as LegacyFaceless Manipulator and Goblins vs GnomesRecombobulator, do participate in the Summoning Catchup Step and thus do trigger Starving Buzzard, Commanding Shout, etc. Poultryizer fits into the latter camp, even though it feels like it should fit into the former camp.

Powermace

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If Powermace's trigger is in the same Phase as all your mechs being reduced to 0 or less Health, Powermace will not trigger on them.

This is in contradiction to how NaxxramasAvenge, The League of ExplorersAnubisath Sentinel and NaxxramasDark Cultist work - they can buff 0 or less Health minions and save them from dying as a result.

Preparation, Summoning Stone, Gazlowe

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you play Preparation, Summoning Stone, then Sprint (in that order), Summoning Stone summons a 7 drop.

If you play Summoning Stone, Prep then Sprint (in that order), Summoning Stone summons a 4 drop.

Normally the cost you play the card for determines the cost of the summoned minion (so a 4 drop should have been summoned).

This bug also occurs with Gazlowe. If Preparation is played before Gazlowe, Gazlowe will trigger based on the cost unmodified by Preparation. If Gazlowe is played after Preparation, Gazlowe will trigger based on the cost modified by Preparation.

This is very likely to be the reason why in the Tavern Brawl Battle of Tol Barad, the free spells given due to the brawl rule summon full cost minions with Summoning Stone.

Also note that the Battle of Tol Barad tavern rule applies before any other enchantments or auras, even if you got the card later. For example, if your opponent plays Loatheb, and on your turn you get a free spell, it will be reduced to 0 mana then increased by 5 mana, and thus cost 5 mana until your turn ends.

You can exploit the previous two bugs to trick Summoning Stone into summoning an 11 or 13-19 cost minion. Instead of crashing the game, nothing happens.

Preparation, Overload

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you play Preparation then a spell with Overload, you do not gain the Overload.

Preparation creates an Aura attached to your Hero that destroys itself as a trigger in the On Play Phase. The moment it does, it has some unusual properties:

  • It immediately updates the Mana Cost of all spells in your hand. (Normally, Auras do not update in the middle of a Phase.) This leads to a bug with Preparation and Summoning Stone/Gazlowe: https://github.com/HearthSim/hs-bugs/issues/273
  • It makes the currently being played spell give 0 Overload.

If Preparation is played before a Tunnel Trogg, Tunnel Trogg will not see any overload and not gain any Attack. If Preparation is played after, Tunnel Trogg will gain Attack equal to overload, then Preparation will remove the overload.

Unbound Elemental triggers regardless of order of play compared to Preparation.

It is unrelated to the amount of Mana the Spell cost. For example, casting the Spell for 0 Mana using Emperor Thaurissan doesn't matter.

Sabotage

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When Goblins vs GnomesSabotage is used to destroy an enemy weapon and a minion, if both of them have Deathrattles, the weapon's Deathrattle always runs and resolves first, followed by the minion's, regardless of the play order of the weapon/minion. In the more general case, the weapon is destroyed first, before the minion is destroyed - this allows the minion's abilities to still trigger from the weapon's Deathrattle.

It is currently not clear if Sabotage destroying the weapon first is intended behavior, since the general expected behavior is that both weapon and minion should be destroyed at the same time, with their deaths processed in order of age. Ben Brode had said that "Things happen one after the other, but the one thing that never happens during a card resolution or trigger is minions dying." (see Reddit thread below) but did not explicitly mention weapons dying, only minions. From the interactions of NaxxramasDeath's Bite attacking into a LegacyHarvest Golem, their Deathrattles will run in order of play, suggesting that weapon and minion deaths both follow the same general rules for death. From this, we can infer that the a sabotaged Death's Bite should not have triggered its Deathrattle before the death of the sabotaged minion.

Sacrificial Pact

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

When Sacrificial Pact is played, one or both players may disconnect before the Sacrificial Pact's effects have finished. If you disconnect and reconnect immediately, you may resume playing the game.

Shadow Madness and Power Overwhelming

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you use LegacyShadow Madness to take control of an enemy minion and use LegacyPower Overwhelming to buff it, at the end of the turn, that minion will return to the enemy, survive, and retain the +4/+4 buff. At the end of your enemy's subsequent turn, it will then die. This is cited to "sound like a bug" by Ben Brode.

If you use LegacyPower Overwhelming to buff your minion and use this minion to kill an enemy LegacySylvanas Windrunner, if her Deathrattle takes control of this minion (assuming it survives), the minion will die immediately when you end your turn. This is probably not a bug, but proves that it is inconsistent with the LegacyShadow Madness behavior. In the Shadow Madness/Power Overwhelming case, Power Overwhelming fails to trigger if it is not the minion controller's turn after it has returned to the enemy (with the game rule that all "end of turn" triggers occur in age order), but in the Sylvanas/Power Overwhelming case, Power Overwhelming does trigger even if it is not the minion controller's turn.

In Patch_2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch) it was tested and found that, in a given game, one player will have the minion return to the opponent's side without triggering and becoming destroyed, while the other player will have the minion return to the opponent's side then trigger and become destroyed, and that which player is which is consistent across a particular game. This may be caused by the Dominant Player Bug - perhaps all triggers for Player 1 are queued and resolved, then all triggers for Player 2 are queued and resolved. This would mean that if you do SM+PO and the minion dies for your opponent, you are player 1, because after the SM ended it stopped being a player 1 controlled minion and the second trigger

Spellbender and Dark Wispers

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

If a player has the LegacySpellbender secret in play with a non-full board, and his opponent has a full board (7 minions), when his opponent plays Goblins vs GnomesDark Wispers and chooses the +5/+5 to a minion option, Spellbender fails to trigger. This bug does not occur with the other Choose One Druid spells.

Spellbender and Reincarnate

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

When your opponent casts NaxxramasReincarnate and your LegacySpellbender intercepts, your The Grand TournamentEffigy/NaxxramasDuplicate will not trigger. Note that letting Spellbender proc, then casting Reincarnate on the token directly works fine.

Steal effects (in hand)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

Steal effects in-hand ignore hand size limit. If you cast LegacyMind Control on a minion, but before the Spell Text Phase, the minion is returned to the opponent's hand AND your hand contains 10/10 cards, the spell will resolve by moving the minion into your hand without first checking for it being full, leading to you having 11 cards in your hand simultaneously.

Steal effects (in-place)

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

If you cast a Shadow Madness on an enemy minion while having 6 minions on the board, your first played Djinni of Zephyrs will die and all remaining Djinnis will gain charge.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0ueqgdh_NA

In addition, if you use Cabal Shadow Priest with Brann Bronzebeard in play, and stealing the enemy minion makes your board full, the second Cabal Battlecry will destroy the stolen minion, because it sees that the destination is full and counts itself.

This is likely a bug, because a similar interaction occurred if you bounced a minion from your hand to your hand while your hand was full (such as by destroying your Anub'arak with a 9/10 card hand and Baron Rivendare in play), and this interaction was changed to not discard the double bounced minion from your hand.

Steamwheedle Sniper

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Contrary to the card text of Goblins vs GnomesSteamwheedle Sniper, you can target your own Hero with your Hunter Hero Power. It might vary depending on whether your Hero is Hero SkinsRexxar or Hero SkinsAlleria Windrunner.

Swipe

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

LegacySwipe works in 2 steps and therefore causes on-damage triggers to activate in this order (after all damage has occurred): The minion targeted, then all other minions in reverse order of play. The spell should work in 1 step and on-damage triggers should run in the order of the minions being played.

LegacyBlizzard works in 2 steps and will cause the new minions spawned by Imp Gang Boss and Grim Patron to also be frozen (but undamaged). It is currently clarified that this is not a bug, and that "the damage and freeze are separate events". This was not changed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

Total Turns

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

The game ends after turn 89 and before turn 90, giving Player 1 a slight unintended theoretical advantage. After turn 89 fully ends and just before turn 90 begins, the game ends in an unconditional draw.

Totemic Slam and Justicar Trueheart (Combo)

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

If you use LegacyTotemic Slam, you click a 'choose one' card, which counts to the game as clicking on a card. Then, Combo effects of cards such as LegacyEviscerate are activated this turn.

Totemic Slam and Justicar Trueheart (interactivity)

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

Player reports that he attacked with The Grand TournamentMaiden of the Lake, Goblins vs GnomesDr. Boom, clicked LegacyTotemic Slam and then ended his turn (presumably without selecting a totem). Afterwards, his Hero Power remained visually exhausted when his next turn began (but the opponent still saw it as usable). Because his prevents him from using it, this is also a gameplay bug.

Tracking

Last verified in: Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch)

LegacyTracking doesn't trigger draw-based effects. Therefore Blackrock MountainChromaggus does not trigger when Tracking is played. No card is generated by Chromaggus.

The Grand TournamentThe Mistcaller buffs the cards in your deck at the time of drawing them. So if you played The Grand TournamentThe Mistcaller earlier and use Tracking, the picked card won't get the enchantment of The Mistcaller, because it was not drawn.

Trigger ordering (dominant player)

Last verified in: Patch 2.8.0.9554 (TGT pre-purchase patch)

When a game of Hearthstone starts, one player has PLAYER_ID 1, and the other has 2. This is unrelated to who goes first/who gets the coin.

When triggers from both players trigger simultaneously, they are queued not in strict order of play, but for the dominant player (PLAYER_ID = 1) first, then the second player's. Each player's triggers are queued in minion age order. When events (such as deaths/damage/healing) are queued simultaneously, they are resolved in global order of play as expected. The bug only affects triggers. This bug notably does not affect Deathrattle triggers, because Deathrattles are triggered within each death event which are already in the correct minion age order.

For LegacyMurloc Tidecaller:

For end-of-turn triggers:

For on-death triggers:

For combat preparation triggers:

For playing a spell triggers:

(It also exists for on-damage triggers and probably every kind of trigger in Hearthstone.)

Trigger ordering (force play)

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

NaxxramasDeathlord, NaxxramasVoidcaller, LegacyAlarm-o-Bot, Goblins vs GnomesAncestor's Call and The Grand TournamentVarian Wrynn all have in common that they forcefully move a minion from your hand or your deck into play. They all also have a bug in common that the minion thus summoned is the oldest in the order of play, not newest, when considering simultaneous Deaths. The order of play is non-bugged when considering triggers, such as end of turn trigger order or on-Death trigger order, or when considering other Events, such as simultaneous Damage.

More specifically, for the purposes of simultaneous Deaths, their 'timestamp' (which is updated when an Entity is generated (including summons, effects like Gang Up or at the start of the game) or played) is not updated when force played for the purposes of simultaneous Deaths, but is updated for all other simultaneous ordering purposes.

For NaxxramasVoidcaller:

For Goblins vs GnomesAncestor's Call:

For NaxxramasDeathlord:

For LegacyAlarm-o-Bot:

For The Grand TournamentVarian Wrynn:

Trigger ordering (simultaneous combat damage)

Last verified in: Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch)

If 2 minions have "On Damage" triggers, and one of them attacks into the other, the defending minion's "On Damage" trigger always triggers first, followed by the attacking minion's trigger. This is unintuitive because in all other cases, simultaneous triggers happen in minion age order. This mostly matters if the "On Damage" triggers spawn new minions (Blackrock MountainGrim Patron, Blackrock MountainImp Gang Boss, Blackrock MountainDragon Egg) in the presence of Knife Jugglers.

Trigger ordering (simultaneous AoE damage)

Last verified in: Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20)

LegacySwipe causes on-damage triggers to activate in this order (after all damage has occurred): The minion targeted, then all other minions in reverse order of play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBv0-u3W4jQ

Fixed bugs

Non-gameplay bugs

Add friend dialogue

The Add Friend dialogue box could become permanently stuck on screen, obscuring the Battlefield under it and preventing game interaction with the minions under it.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Alt-tab

The game window would minimize when alt-tabbing out of the game in windowed fullscreen mode.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.2.0.7835.

Arena deck

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

Arena decks with multiples of a card would sometimes use more than one slot to list the card. For example if you had 3 Water Elementals it would list 2 Water Elementals, then separately below it a single Water Elemental.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20), but not noted in the patch notes.

Back button (Arena)

After you finished drafting your Arena deck, the back button became unresponsive. Workaround: Esc -> Options -> Credits -> Exit credits. This bug was introduced in Patch 2.8.0.9554 (TGT pre-purchase patch).

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Back button (quest)

If you received your daily Quest right after you completed your match, the back button would become unresponsive. Workaround: Esc -> Options -> Credits -> Exit credits.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Classic packs

Classic card packs in the Shop only displayed the "Best for new players" banner if the player has already purchased a pack that session.

It is unknown when this behavior was changed. Currently, it doesn't display the "Best for new players" text at all.

Dialogue boxes

Since Patch 2.6.0.8834, the chat text and add friend dialogue boxes had text vertically misaligned within the typing area. This occured on all platforms, and was more pronounced at certain screen resolutions.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Esc key

Esc key was not working after you opened and closed your Quest log. It was working again after you went into any sub menu and came back to the main menu.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Flavor text

Spam clicking a card in the Collection Manager to bring up the flavor text box could make the flavor text box shrink.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch).

Hero "Thinking" emotes

Heroes had been using their idling/thinking emote a lot more often than usual, even when a player has only just started his or her turn, to the point of annoyance.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

New cards

If you opened a card that you already had 2 copies of and Disenchanted all extra cards, it would still be listed as "new" in the collection.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Payment information

If you went to Arena, clicked the "i" button on the bottom left and pointed your cursor above the "More" and "Cancel" buttons, you could hear the "Back" button sound and you could click it to go back to the previous menu.

This bug was probably fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Tavern Brawl button

If you click and drag the My Collection button in the main menu several times, you can uncover the hidden button underneath it. You can also do this with Open Packs button and move both buttons completely off screen.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch).

Tavern Brawl queue

You could enter the Tavern Brawl queue from the deck editing page.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

AI bugs

Doomsayer

If a LegacyDoomsayer was silenced, the AI would stop playing minions, mistakenly thinking that the minion would die the immediate following turn. This could be used to defeat most AI and Adventure bosses.

This bug was fixed in Patch 1.1.0.6141 (a week after Naxxramas was released), but not noted in the patch notes.

Adventures gameplay

Majordomo Executus (encounter) and Bane of Doom

Using LegacyBane of Doom as the killing blow on Majordomo Executus would skip the Ragnaros phase of the boss battle on both Normal and Heroic difficulties.

The technical reason is because a successful Bane of Doom acts as a Destroy effect, and the encounter was only programmed to expect death by Health loss.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch) by removing the additional Destroy effect when it hits a Hero only.

Nefarian (encounter) and Bane of Doom

Using LegacyBane of Doom as the killing blow on Onyxia in Phase 2 would skip the final phase of the boss battle on both Normal and Heroic difficulties. This was similar to the bug where using Bane of Doom on Majordomo Executus would skip the Ragnaros Phase of the fight.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

Misdirection and Patchwerk (encounter)

CorePatchwerk ignored LegacyMisdirection when attacking with his weapon. However, it was also stated that "The bosses of Naxxramas do not play by the rules. :)" although not specifically directed at this bug since certain cards are banned from use in some Naxxramas boss encounters. There was currently no confirmation from Blizzard that this bug is intended behavior.

This bug was fixed either in Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20) or in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Rock Out and Unbound Elemental

In the Blackrock MountainGarr encounter, using Blackrock MountainRock Out did not cause LegacyUnbound Elemental to trigger and grow in size if a player managed to obtain them.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Golden card bugs

Chromaggus

When a non-golden Blackrock MountainChromaggus copied a golden card, the copy was non-golden. When a golden Chromaggus copied a non-golden card, the copy was non-golden.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

Effigy

Last verified in: Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch)

Since patch 3.1, using a non-golden The Grand TournamentEffigy created golden minions.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Gang Up

  1. Using a golden Blackrock MountainGang Up on a golden minion would cause 3 golden cards to be visually shuffled into the deck. The drawn cards were golden.
  2. Using a golden Gang Up on a non-golden minion would cause 3 non-golden cards to be visually shuffled into the deck. However the drawn cards were golden.
  3. Using a non-golden Gang Up on a golden minion would cause 3 golden cards to be visually shuffled into the deck. However the drawn cards were non-golden.
  4. Using a non-golden Gang Up on a non-golden minion would cause 3 non-golden cards to be visually shuffled into the deck. The drawn cards were non-golden.

(2) was a visual bug as the cards visually shuffled in should look golden. (3) was a bug as the copied cards that are drawn should be golden. This bug was officially listed in the "Known Issues" sticky on the Blizzard Bug Report forums with the text "Casting a Golden Gang Up on normal minions is not producing golden copies." but it is inaccurate.

This bug was probably fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), the same patch that fixed Mirror Entity, but not noted in the patch notes.

Golden taunt minions

After golden taunt minion died, its broken particles would fly over the board for a brief moment.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

Mirror Entity

Since the Patch 1.0.0.4217 (10 Dec 2013 closed beta patch, this patch introduced the current ranking system and Test Season 1), a golden LegacyMirror Entity will no longer produce golden minions. Prior to the patch, it did work correctly. Ben Brode has said this bug is on a very low priority to fix. The intended behavior is that a golden minion is summoned if either the target or the Mirror Entity is golden. Bug is still present in BRM patch.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Mulch

Since patch 3.1, using a non-golden The Grand TournamentMulch created a golden minion card.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Audio-related gameplay bugs

Crafting and disenchanting

Crafting and disenchanting sound effects would not respect the volume slider when rapidly crafting/disenchanting cards.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Daily Quest reroll

No sound was played when rerolling a daily Quest.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Missing concede sound

Since Patch 3.0.0.9786, you were able to concede before all of the queued animations had been resolved. In this case, the sound of your hero conceding would be missing.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Since Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch), whenever a secret would trigger, it played the ping-like sound effect twice, once before the animation of the secret being revealed, and once after the secret's effect has resolved.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Spectator bugs

Choose one

If the spectated player played one of the Druid cards with Choose One ability, the two cards would remain stuck on the screen until the end of the match. The temporary workaround was to exit to main menu and spectate the player again.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.8.0.9554.

Green cards and hero power

If the spectated player ended the turn without using some of the cards or hero power, the green border around them would still persist and would update correctly only after you mouse hovered over them.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.2.0.10604 (2015-10-20), but not noted in the patch notes.

History sidebar bugs

Faceless Manipulator and damaged minions

If you copied a damaged minion with LegacyFaceless Manipulator, the sidebar would show the amount of damage that was done to the minion.

However, if you copied a damaged minion that had less than or equal to 50% of its remaining HP, the sidebar would show that it died.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Visual-related gameplay bugs

Area of effect spells

Spells like LegacyConsecration, LegacyStarfall, and LegacyLightning Storm that cause the screen to shake would not return the game board to its original location. The resulting board location was either shifted up or down slightly. With repeated casts, this resulted in players being able to view less and less of his hand, or the opponent's hand, depending on which direction the board shifted. Listed to be fixed in the BRM patch notes, but the bug was still not fixed.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Choose One and aiming at your hand

If you took a Choose One effect with a targetter like LegacyWrath or LegacyKeeper of the Grove and clicked on your cards with it, they would get displaced from their usual location and angle. To fix the bug, you had to rapidly click slightly under the UI element that was showing your current Mana Crystal amount. The cards would remain oddly angled but become playable.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Daily quest

At the end of matches, players would sometimes see a Daily Quest they had not have being completed. Started happening in 3.0. Did not actually reward the gold.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Effigy

Visual effect of The Grand TournamentEffigy could remain permanently on the wrong side of the board.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Gang Up and Choose One

If Blackrock MountainGang Up was used on a minion with Choose One, it would visually display 6 or 9 cards entering the player's deck instead of 3. Only 3 actual cards entered the deck.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

Golden Hero Powers

Golden Hero Powers did not animate when you mouseover them.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

King's Elekk

If you played a minion drawn by The Grand TournamentKing's Elekk and attacked with it, a skull would appear over the minion you were attacking with, even if it would not die as a result of that combat.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Nozdormu and transform effects

Transforming LegacyNozdormu via effects like LegacyTinkmaster Overspark, LegacyPolymorph or Goblins vs GnomesRecombobulator would cause the sandstorm effect to remain for the remainder of the match. This was purely a visual bug, turns no longer last 15 seconds (See Nozdormu timer bug).

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

Rend Blackhand

Whenever you played Blackrock MountainRend Blackhand and cancelled his Battlecry, a white glow where the legendary animation had been would stay on your board.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Rope (End Turn)

If you ended your turn right when rope started to roll out, the rolled rope image would stay on your screen for the remainder of the match.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Sludge Belcher (animation)

The NaxxramasSludge Belcher would take about 3 to 4 seconds to die (the animation) before the Slime was created and became targetable by the player. While not truly a bug, Ben Brode tweeted that the long death animation was a bug and will be fixed. This affected high level tournament gameplay where players would often spend the entire turn thinking and only start playing cards when the rope starts to burn. Ben Brode has commented that "Learning when you need to start acting is part of the game" in response to asking if card animations can be made not to count towards the turn timer.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch).

Spell Damage

New to 3.0, when your opponent has Spell Damage +1 and plays a spell that does damage, the card text is not modified to show the new amount of damage. Your own cards that are modified by Spell Damage +1 still work as intended.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Steamwheedle Sniper

Goblins vs GnomesSteamwheedle Sniper did not give the cross-hair animation to golden hunter Hero Power.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

Vol'jin

If you cancelled Vol'jin's Battlecry in the middle of the animation, the Battlefield would stay darkened until the end of the game or until you used his Battlecry again.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Gameplay bugs

Alarm-o-Bot and Doomsayer

If LegacyDoomsayer and LegacyAlarm-o-Bot are played in that order, at the start of the next turn, Doomsayer triggers first, followed by Alarm-o-bot. Since death is not checked for until all triggers have resolved, both succeed in triggering, and a bugged Alarm-o-bot card is returned to hand. If the player tried to play the bugged Alarm-o-bot from hand, it did immediately on entering the Battlefield. This is similar to the Vaporize and Freezing Trap bug.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1 or Patch 3.2, but not noted in the patch notes. (The video displays Freezing Trap vs Vaporize, but the way in which it was fixed will also fix this bug.)

Auchenai Soulpriest

If LegacyAuchenai Soulpriest was used to flip healing into damage on a minion, on-damage triggers would not run. For example, LegacyCircle of Healing dealing 4 damage would not trigger LegacyAcolyte of Pain. This bug was introduced in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

This bug was hotfixed a few days later.

Baron Rivendare and Earth Shock

If LegacyEarth Shock was used to kill a minion with Deathrattle and NaxxramasBaron Rivendare was on the board, the Deathrattle of that minion still triggered once.

This bug was hotfixed on 15 August 2014, about 10 days after the Military Quarter of Naxxramas was released (this wing released Baron Rivendare).

Bear Trap

The Grand TournamentBear Trap could activate on full board. Confirmed as a bug by Ben Brode.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch).

Burrowing Mine

Exploded in hand (if obtained by LegacyThoughtsteal) when next player had drawn a card, or the original Goblins vs GnomesBurrowing Mine was drawn. Unclear what was the triggering condition.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Cogmaster

Goblins vs GnomesCogmaster's passive ability stopped working if its Attack and Health were swapped by LegacyCrazed Alchemist, Goblins vs GnomesReversing Switch or NaxxramasPolarity Shift. This is likely because its Aura was incorrectly programmed with a Priority higher than all Enchantments, meaning that it was always processed first and the reversing enchantment overwrote the effects of the aura.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.2.0.7835.

Coldlight Oracle and Secrets

If a LegacyColdlight Oracle or Blackrock MountainVaelastrasz the Corrupt's Hero Power (Normal/Heroic) forced the player to draw cards, and one of the cards is a Secret, if one player took Fatigue damage, the game would hang for the player with the secret card revealed from the deck mid-draw. The concede option would not work and the player had to exit the client. This could happen on both Play mode and in Adventure mode.

It seems this bug may have also occured with Goblins vs GnomesFlame Leviathan rather than a Secret, but there was only one report.

It seems this bug may have also occured with LegacyDivine Favor into Secret, but there was only one report.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Counterspell

When LegacyCounterspell was triggered (you can be the owner, triggerer or a spectator of either player), if you clicked away the big 'Counterspell' card that appears telling you what Secret was triggered, it was very likely that your client would hang and you needed to disconnect and reconnect to the game to resume playing.

Post by Yong Woo explaining the workaround:

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch) but not noted in the patch notes.

Darnassus Aspirant

If you played a 0 cost The Grand TournamentDarnassus Aspirant at 10/10 Mana, the Battlecry made you have 9/10 Mana.

If you played Darnassus Aspirant at 10/10 Mana but it cost 2 Mana, the behaviour was as expected, you went to, and then stayed at, 8/10 Mana.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Deaths caused during "end of turn" effects

An LegacyImp Master on 1 HP died at the end of turn even if a LegacyHealing Totem was on the board. NaxxramasKel'Thuzad resurrected itself if killed by Ragnaros at the end of turn.

The above were confirmed to be bugs because all "end of turn" effects should resolve before any deaths are checked for.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.0.0.7234 (GvG patch).

Demonfuse and Sense Demons

LegacySense Demons could draw The Grand TournamentDemonfuse as one of its two cards. This is because Demonfuse erroneously has the Demon racial tag, which is meant to only be on minions (and LegacyLord Jaraxxus the Hero). Confirmed as a bug that will be fixed by Yong Woo here.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Divine Shield and on-damage triggers

If a minion with a Divine Shield took damage from a non-combat source, on-damage triggers would run. This bug was introduced in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch).

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Drakonid Crusher and Charge

When Chromaggus (encounter) played Charge on a fresh 9/9 Blackrock MountainDrakonid Crusher with the player at or under 15 HP, it got buffed to 14/9 instead of 11/9.

A similar bug may have been affecting Goblins vs GnomesRusty Horn and LegacyBlessing of Kings, but there have been insufficient reports on this issue.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Echo of Medivh

If Goblins vs GnomesEcho of Medivh was played while the player controls a minion with Choose One, the game would desync from the server, freezing for the player.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Echoing Ooze and transform effects

If you played an NaxxramasEchoing Ooze, then transformed it the same turn via effects like LegacyTinkmaster Overspark, LegacyPolymorph or Goblins vs GnomesRecombobulator, the green semi-transparent goo visual effect did not disappear and permanently remained on the Battlefield in the position of the original Echoing Ooze for the remainder of the match. This was purely a visual bug. This bug was introduced in Patch 2.0.0.7234 (GvG patch).

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Echoing Ooze and Velen's Chosen

If Goblins vs GnomesVelen's Chosen was played on an Echoing Ooze, the buff was correctly cloned at the end of turn. However, if either Echoing Ooze was returned to the player's hand via effects like LegacySap, and that Ooze was later played again from the hand, the new Ooze would retain the sparkling animation that is standard for minions with Spell Damage, but this was only a visual bug. However, when the new Ooze was cloned at end of turn, the clone would actually have Spell Damage +1, sparkle, and actually affect the player's spells.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Faceless Manipulator and Frozen Champion

When you tried to clone the Knights of the Frozen ThroneFrozen Champion during the NaxxramasSapphiron encounter, the game server would stop responding.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Faceless Manipulator and Velen's Chosen

When you buffed Goblins vs GnomesVelen's Chosen on a minion which has Spell Damage (e.g. LegacyAzure Drake) and cloned this minion with LegacyFaceless Manipulator, the newly created minion would only grant you 1 spell damage instead of 2.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Fallen Hero and Immune effects

The Grand TournamentFallen Hero extra damage bypassed Immune effect. If you had a Fallen Hero in play, a Goblins vs GnomesMal'Ganis to make your Hero Immune and used your Hero Power on yourself, the base damage was prevented but the added damage by Fallen Hero went through.

It also worked with Ragnaros' Hero Power.

However: Fallen Hero and LegacyIce Block Immune worked correctly.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Fatigue and Replacing your hero

New bug in patch 3.1.0.10357, replacing your Hero would reset Fatigue damage to 1. It worked with both LegacyLord Jaraxxus and Ragnaros (from Blackrock MountainMajordomo Executus).

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Feign Death and Added Deathrattles

If you casted Goblins vs GnomesFeign Death and had on the field a friendly minion with both a Deathrattle and an on-Death Triggered effect, the on-death triggered effect would go off once for its own 'feigned death'. It would not go off for other minions with Deathrattles. To do this, you had to play a minion such as LegacyScavenging Hyena or LegacyFlesheating Ghoul and add a Deathrattle such as LegacyAncestral Spirit or the Brawl effect of The Masked Ball. This was a bug because Feign Death is meant to only trigger Deathrattles, not on-death Triggers, and wdoes not, for example, count as a death to NaxxramasKel'Thuzad either.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Flame Leviathan, Living Bomb

Goblins vs GnomesFlame Leviathan and Living Bomb's area of effect damage, if you managed to trigger two or more in the same Phase, stopped affecting minions that have been reduced to 0 or less Health.

This was in contrast to other forms of area of effect damage, such as Explosive Sheep, which continued to damage all targets regardless of current Health.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch) but not noted in the patch notes. As of 3.1, all-character AoE damage includes mortally wounded characters and all-minion AoE damage ignores mortally wounded minions.

Frothing Berserker, Auchenai Soulpriest, Divine Shield

Normally, a LegacyFrothing Berserker does not trigger on damage reduced to 0, such as by a Divine Shield. But if you used an LegacyAuchenai Soulpriest and hit a Divine Shielded minion with a heal inverted into damage, the Frothing Berserker triggered once.

It also appeared to happen with other on-damage triggers such as LegacyAcolyte of Pain.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch) but not noted in the patch notes.

Hobgoblin/The Mistcaller

Under unknown circumstances, a minion buffed by Goblins vs GnomesHobgoblin or The Grand TournamentThe Mistcaller could become immortal at 0 Health. This was not a visual bug - the Server would send you actions involving it, you could attempt to attack with it and fail (it moved a bit then the Server sent you your next set of actions, and it was still selectable), it took up space on your board, you could target it with spells and both you and your opponent would see it. The minions it had been observed with were NaxxramasEchoing Ooze, NaxxramasHaunted Creeper, Goblins vs GnomesMicro Machine, LegacyNovice Engineer and LegacyArgent Squire (and possibly more). However, an Echoing Ooze was usually on the board at some point in the past.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Jaraxxus and Armorsmith

The game server used to hang when Jaraxxus is played while the player controls an LegacyArmorsmith.

Joust

When playing a Joust, the jousted cards have their entity IDs revealed and can therefore be tracked when they move to the hand.

This leak have been hotfixed 2 times in total on 09/04/2015.

Lightbomb

If you played Goblins vs GnomesLightbomb and any 0 attack minions were on the board, Spell Damage +1 bonuses were applied ONLY to them. If there were no 0 attack minions on the board, everything got the Spell Damage +1 bonus damage, as expected.

Also, Lightbomb was dealing its damage simultaneous rather than one at a time (with on-damage triggers applied in between), so the LegacyFrothing Berserker vs Lightbomb bug should have been fixed with this change.

This bug was fixed a week after Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch) came out and the behaviour of Lightbomb was reverted. Now we have the Frothing Berserker + Lightbomb bug once more.

Mimiron's Head

If you played LegacyDoomsayer, LegacyAlarm-o-Bot, Mech, Goblins vs GnomesMimiron's Head in this order (with another mech in hand), the Goblins vs GnomesV-07-TR-0N's animation wwould play in the background and once he spawned, the game would hang. Each player had to reconnect in order to continue playing.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Misdirection and Noble Sacrifice

LegacyNoble Sacrifice caused the game server to stop responding if it was triggered at the same time as LegacyMisdirection. Noble Sacrifice must have been played first then Misdirection so that they would trigger in that exact order. The reverse order was not bugged.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Misdirection and Stealth minions

LegacyMisdirection did not trigger if you attacked using your Hero into the enemy Hero if all minions on the board were in Stealth. If there was at least one minion not in Stealth, Misdirection would trigger correctly and is able to redirect to any minion, including stealthed ones.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Nat Pagle and Cabal Shadow Priest

If a LegacyCabal Shadow Priest takes control of an enemy LegacyNat Pagle, the fishing animation incorrectly plays on the opponent's deck when triggered.

It is unknown when this bug was fixed.

Old Murk-Eye and Grimscale Oracle

LegacyOld Murk-Eye and LegacyGrimscale Oracle's auras stopped working after LegacyAldor Peacekeeper and LegacyCrazed Alchemist effects, for a similar reason as Cogmaster's aura was bugged with Goblins vs GnomesReversing Switch - the aura was coded to go before, not after, enchantments, and was thus suppressed by this direct attribute setting enchantment.

This bug was probably fixed in Patch 2.2.0.7835, but the exact date is unknown.

Ram Wrangler

Minions put into play by The Grand TournamentRam Wrangler would always spawn to the far right.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Recombobulator and Emperor Thaurissan

A minion that had its casting cost reduced by Blackrock MountainEmperor Thaurissan would recombobulate into a minion of cost equal to the reduced casting cost. This actually crashed the game on the server side if Goblins vs GnomesRecombobulator was played on a LegacyMolten Giant that had its cost reduced by 1, because there are no minions that have 19 casting cost.

This bug was hotfixed later the same day it was found.

Rumbling Elemental

For a week after Rumbling Elemental was released, if you played Faceless Manipulator targeting a Battlecry Minion, your Rumbling Elementals triggered twice in the After Play Phase, instead of just once.

This bug was hotfixed about a week later.

Resurrect

If Player 1 had no dead minions since the start of the game and Player 2 did, if Player 2 played Blackrock MountainResurrect (this one would function correctly), any subsequent Resurrects played by Player 1 while his dead minions list would remain empty would instead resurrect a minion from Player 2's list of dead minions.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Return to hand effects

If NaxxramasStalagg or NaxxramasFeugen was returned to hand (from the Battlefield) and failed to do so because the player's hand is full (10 cards), then it would instead die and trigger its Deathrattle. Blizzard has clarified that this is working as intended. But, such a death by bouncing to hand was not recorded by the game, so when the second one dies later (by any means) and its Deathrattle is checked, NaxxramasThaddius is not summoned. This is verified to be a bug.

NaxxramasKel'Thuzad did not resurrect minions killed by returning to a full hand, despite their Deathrattles triggering.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch), but not noted in the patch notes. It is also tested that Blackrock MountainResurrect will correctly consider minions killed by returning to a full hand.

Sacred Trial

When you play LegacyRepentance or LegacySnipe and your opponent plays LegacyLord Jaraxxus, these Secrets trigger on Lord Jaraxxus the Hero and have their expected effect.

This is because they are hard-coded to work this way. Normally the Secrets can only trigger on minions.

When you played The League of ExplorersSacred Trial and your opponent played LegacyLord Jaraxxus while having 4 or more minions on the board, Sacred Trial triggered, targeted Lord Jaraxxus the Hero but had no effect. To be consistent, it should either trigger and destroy Lord Jaraxxus the Hero or not trigger at all.

This was hotfixed about a week after The League of ExplorersSacred Trial was released. Now Sacred Trial kills Lord Jaraxxus the Hero.

Savage Roar and Silence effects

The effects of LegacySavage Roar used to be unable to be silenced off. The minions retained +2 Attack even after silencing them. This bug did not occur with LegacyBloodlust.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.8.0.9554 or Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Shadow Madness and Silence

If you used LegacyShadow Madness to take control of an enemy minion, copied it with LegacyFaceless Manipulator and Silenced all copied minions, they would all return to your opponent's board and could bypass the 7 minion limit if your opponent's board was full.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch) but not noted in the patch notes.

Shadowflame

LegacyShadowflame could target your own hero starting from Patch 2.0.0.7234 (GvG patch). Doing so will cause the player to lose the game immediately.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Shadowflame and Spell Damage

When LegacyShadowflame was used on a minion with 0 Attack, Spell Damage would fail to increase the damage.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Sideshow Spelleater

The Grand TournamentSideshow Spelleater did not work in Tavern Brawl.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Snake Trap

If your board was full, LegacySnake Trap would still trigger when one of your minions was attacked and produced no snakes. This was inconsistent because LegacyNoble Sacrifice, LegacyMirror Entity and LegacySpellbender would not trigger if your board is full. However, an argument could be made that this was because Snake Trap had the potential to offer partial value (0 to 3 snakes), while the other secrets were "all or nothing" value.

Snake Trap and Duplicate triggering and doing nothing was confirmed to be a bug by Ben Brode:

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch).

Swipe

When LegacySwipe was used on Blackrock MountainImp Gang Boss, it would deal 4 damage to the Imp Gang Boss, causing a 1/1 Imp to spawn, then deal 1 damage to all other minions, including the newly spawned Imp which proceeded to die. This was clarified to be a bug.

If Swipe was used on a Blackrock MountainGrim Patron with more than 4 HP, it would deal 4 damage to the Grim Patron, causing a new Patron to spawn. 1 damage was then dealt to all other minions including the new Patron, causing another Grim Patron to spawn. If the original Grim Patron was 3/10, then the result was three Grim Patrons with 3/6, 3/2 and 3/3 HP in that order from left to right.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes. However, Swipe still triggers on-damage triggers in this order: The first minion hit, then all other minions in reverse order of play.

LegacyExplosive Shot is confirmed to deal damage in 3 phases (center, right, then left). Suppose the enemy has 3 Grim Patrons on the board, in the order A, B, C from left to right, and all 3 of them are buffed to 3/10 for the purposes of this example. If you cast Explosive Shot on B, B first takes 5 damage and spawns a Grim Patron (D) to its right. This new Patron D then takes 2 damage and spawns another Patron (E) to its right. Then Grim Patron A takes 2 damage and spawns F to its right. The result is A, F, B, D, E, C which are 3/8, 3/3, 3/5, 3/1, 3/3, 3/10. It is not confirmed if this is a bug.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes. However, Explosive Shot still triggers on-damage triggers in this order: center, right, left.

Sylvanas Windrunner

LegacySylvanas Windrunner could potentially steal a dying minion, caused NaxxramasKel'Thuzad not to resurrect them as they switch sides.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch).

The Skeleton Knight/Anub'arak and Baron Rivendare

Last verified in: Patch 3.0.0.9786 (TGT patch)

The Grand TournamentThe Skeleton Knight/The Grand TournamentAnub'arak with NaxxramasBaron Rivendare and 9 cards in hand causes the repeated Deathrattle to discard itself from hand.

This bug was fixed in Patch 4.0.0.10833 (LoE patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

The Skeleton Knight and Twisting Nether

If you played The Grand TournamentThe Skeleton Knight then LegacyTwisting Nether, The Skeleton Knight might have experienced a visual glitch and turned invisible in your hand. This would make him unplayable.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Vanish

Since the BRM patch, playing LegacyVanish sometimes caused the server to stop responding and the player was unable to proceed with the game, play any cards, or even concede. The player had to exit the application and attempt to reconnect to the game.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.7.0.9166 (Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Vaporize and Freezing Trap

If a player has both LegacyVaporize and LegacyFreezing Trap in play in that order, when an enemy minion attacks the hero, Vaporize will trigger first and mark the minion with pending destroy, then Freezing Trap will trigger and return the "dying minion" to hand. When this minion is played later, it dies immediately on play. This is similar to the Alarm-o-bot and Doomsayer bug.

Note that Freezing Trap is well known not to trigger on mortally wounded minions, such as when an LegacyExplosive Trap trigger first before a Freezing Trap.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1 or 3.2, but not noted in the patch notes. The minion will be bounced to your hand, but when re-played will no longer be considered pending destroy and will survive.

Velen's Chosen

Since the BRM patch, if Goblins vs GnomesVelen's Chosen was played on an enemy minion, the caster of Velen's Chosen still gained the Spell Damage, rather than the owner of the enemy minion. This usually happened when Velen's Chosen was redirected by LegacySpellbender, or if the player used Velen's Chosen to buff Blackrock MountainMoira Bronzebeard, or a buffed minion gets stolen.

This bug was hotfixed on the servers around 2 weeks after the BRM patch, but the fix was not noted anywhere.

Voidcaller

NaxxramasVoidcaller's Deathrattle used to ignore the board limit of 7 minions if a NaxxramasBaron Rivendare was on the board.

This bug was hotfixed on 15 August 2014, about 10 days after the Military Quarter of Naxxramas was released (this wing released both Voidcaller and Baron Rivendare).

Voidcaller and Doomguard

If you were holding a LegacyDoomguard card above the Battlefield while a NaxxramasVoidcaller died, if the Deathrattle caused that Doomguard to be selected to enter the Battlefield, the Doomguard would get put into play slightly below where the mouse cursor was instead of the correct position in the Battlefield. Depending on where the position of that Doomguard is, it may become uninteractable with.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.

Vol'jin

If you played Goblins vs GnomesVol'jin while you had no minions and all enemy minions on the board were stealthed, he entered play as a 6/0 without requiring you to select a Battlecry target and instantly died.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch).

Warsong Commander

Starting from the GvG patch, LegacyWarsong Commander did not grant Charge to summoned minions, only played minions.

This bug was fixed in Patch 2.4.0.8311 (BRM patch). However, the patched behavior is not the same as the original pre-GvG behavior in that it no longer gives Charge to minions that would be buffed beyond 3 Attack by Battlecry effects, such as the LegacyBloodsail Raider and LegacyBlood Knight.

Wilfred Fizzlebang

Recombobulating a minion reduced to 0 Mana by The Grand TournamentWilfred Fizzlebang's effect would summon another 0 Mana minion. The intended behaviour is that all mana cost related enchantments are removed when a minion is played from your hand.

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.1.0.10357 (Mech War Tavern Brawl patch), but not noted in the patch notes.
