- "Arfus" is a pun on "Arthas" and "arf", an onomatopoiea for a dog's bark.
- Arfus may be a reference to Argus, Odysseus's dog in Homer's Odyssey.
- Until Patch 25.0.0.158725 and the release of multi-type minions, Arfus was one of the few minions categorized as a Beast despite clearly being undead.
