Strategy[edit | edit source]
Arcane Intellect works best in a spell-synergy or combo deck or with cost reduction effects such as Sorcerer's Apprentice. Aggressive decks can also use this card to refuel in the mid- to late-game. Control decks, by contrast, may opt out of using this card, as it will accelerate them toward fatigue.
Lore[edit | edit source]
Arcane Intellect was a mage buff from World of Warcraft. It increased the target's intellect, the primary stat for all caster types, with the symbol shown on this card's illustration flashing briefly above the target's head as they were imbued with its power. It was a basic mage spell, best kept active at all times. With Cataclysm, Arcane Intellect was removed, with its near-identical equivalent Arcane Brilliance becoming the standard mage buff. This card's art is actually taken from the Arcane Brilliance card from the World of Warcraft TCG.
Arcane Intellect was the only raid wide buff mages brought to the raid during classic World of Warcraft. The reagent which was originally needed for the higher levels of the buff was a major annoyance for the mages.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The artwork for this card comes from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game "Heroes of Azeroth" series, depicting the spell Arcane Intellect.
