Apexis Blast is an epic mage spell card, from the Ashes of Outland set.

How to get[edit | edit source]

Apexis Blast can be obtained through Ashes of Outland card packs, through crafting, or as an Arena reward. Regular Apexis Blast can also be obtained through the Highest Rank Bonus chest at the end of a Ranked season.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Apexis Blast is a powerful, high-tempo spell that allows you to remove a threat from your opponent, or deal 5 face damage, whilst allowing you to develop your own board. It has the same effect as the spell Firelands Portal and is two mana cheaper, however there is the constraint of having no minions in your deck. Due to this, Apexis Blast is only really played in Spell Mage, however it is worth noting that a 5-mana spell that only deals 5 damage is still very much playable, if slightly weak in comparison with Fireball. The random 5-Cost minion is on average a 3/4 body, which is not bad in itself and sometimes has a powerful effect such as Sandhoof Waterbearer, Waxadred, Azerite Elemental or Convincing Infiltrator.

There are only a couple of 5-Cost minions with potentially serious downsides in Standard as of April 2020, and those are Mortuary Machine and Abomination. Otherwise, the worst minions to pull in terms of stats are Desert Obelisk and Chromatic Egg, and the best are Earth Elemental and Dalaran Crusader.

This card is weak in Arena due to the fact that it is almost impossible to draft a spell-only deck. However, since the spell only checks your current deck, and not your starting deck, this card could be drafted for a late-game high-tempo play. Drawing it early game is not game-losing, as the deal 5 damage effect, as noted above, is not bad for the cost of the card.

Apexis crystals are powerful relics of the Apexis, an extinct arakkoan civilization, found in both Outland and the alternate Draenor. In Outland, items called Apexis Crystals and Apexis Shards can be obtained in the Blade's Edge Mountains and are used to trade with the Ogri'la faction, while on Draenor, Apexis Crystals are a currency acquired from a wide range of activities and used to buy armor from various vendors.

This card depicts a volley of Apexis crystals being launched at an unfortunate fel orc.
